Ok...

One of the batteries the manual recommend is Futaba HT5F1800B which is a NiMH battery. Would I need to by the Futaba FBC19B4 wall charger also?

Are their better options?

FYI... I have a Team Orion Touch Duo for my car batteries which does NiMH and LiFe. I assume I can use this to charge the transmitter batteries but I would need to remove the battery from the transmitter?

Thanks for the help and sorry for the newb Q's... I currently use a low end Spektrum transmitter.

EDIT:
I ended up odering this battery and this adapter.

RC Mart has the Aluminum 4PX case if that's what your looking for.

I went with the speed Mind soft case for the shoulder strap.

No and you will want to ditch the AA batteries right away. I put brand new batteries in mine and they were dead before I had the steering trims set. Multiple people I know that have this radio had the exact same experience. Get the rechargeable battery from a 4pksr or a life pack. Otherwise you'll need a new set of batteries for every run.

This statement isn't true. You have to adjust the low battery warning to a lower voltage level from factory when using alkalines, and all is good. The batteries last a normal amount of time. I race once a week and have replaced the Tx batteries once since Christmas. I suspect they don't last as long as my 4PLS, however they will last longet than getting to trim setup.

If this is true then I didn't know that.

But the question then is why supply a AA battery holder and not have it work out of the box. Seems pretty retarded to me.

Just got an email from Amain that my backordered 4PX foam insert for the protek case is now in stock. Only took them 4 months from the day I ordered it

Too bad the radio and case were sold a while ago. Anyone want to buy it from me?

If you say so... Then I must be one, I'm not a brain surgeon and figured it out ;)

Here is my Speed Mind case. I was wanting the Aluminum Futaba one, however could not wait for it, and really wanted one with a shoulder strap so I could sling it on me for hands fee operation, and/or attach it to my haul bag. It's not a bomb proof as a hard case, but I should be fine. I use soft cases for all my camera gear :) This was about $30.

The problem is the default battery setting isn't the one for AA batteries. Out of the box the warning is set too low for AA batteries and you need to change the settings.

I get that. Just seems to me if you are going to supply the radio with AA holder, you default it to use that without issues out of the box.

The 4PKSR came with a rechargeable battery. It came setup out of the box to use it without issue. The 4PKSR battery works in the 4PX without changing any settings btw, which is also NiMH I believe. Make me wonder how many cells are in that now?

You must be one what? Someone without reading comprehension skills? Was it insulting to you that I suggest what Futaba did was retarded?

I was making fun of myself, is all.... No need to take it there :weird:

BTW if someone wants the foam insert let me know for the protek case just PM me. I have a week to cancel the preorder. I could probably have it shipped direct to you from Amain. Just pay me what it costs and don't wait for them to fill all the backorders.
