Yeah, the Tower club discounts are for Gold Preferred members. Radio is $540, and then with a $80 coupon code gets it down to $460 shipped. Coupon code and $10 discount is tied to a valid email.

Most of the discounts and coupon codes are tied to your account and based off how much you spend per year. My codes may not work for other club members.

Anyone have any insight to my calibration question? I would like to get this radio while its in stock and cheap but I don't want to spend another $400 on replacing working esc's.

Endpoints would come from the transmitter. Think of the receiver as a wireless router. It just tells the signal where to go.

Hated to do it to Amain but discount was just to great at Tower. Will be returning 4PX to Amain. Spoke with Amain CSR and he said they would waive the restocking fee as a one time courtesy. They should considering it's my first return in 10 years with 80+ orders.

I ended up with the 4PX, Hobbico LiFe battery, R203GF receiver and can of spray paint for $625.94 - $100 coupon - $36 e-cash = $489.94.

So do think since the 4px is the same brand radio the end point signal will be the same? It seems to work fine on my 3pl and 4pl.

Not bad, use your e-cash to buy a R204GF-E receiver for your 4PX.

think you mean R304SBE , right? the 204 is slower than FASST, s-fhss

the PX is only faster when using T-fhss

Do you know the latency differences between S-FHSS and T-FHSS? I had always figured the T-FHSS just added telemetry. Is T-FHSS actually faster? If so, by how much?

I was wondering this too . I know my 4pl uses that reciever and it is around 8ms and I am guessing the 4px should be around 2-3ms if it's 30% faster than the 4pksr

kcobra 10-24-2014 09:48 AM

What is screwy with radio manufacturers is numbers really don't mean a lot (IMO). What does the 30% really mean? Is it only inside the transmitter or did they have some hidden functionality in the T-FHSS receivers that the 4PLS did not use?. If not in the receiver does the 30% apply to to all modes?

Only stat I can find anywhere about T/S/FHSS recievers is on the R2104GF page at tower:

"For use with the 4-PL S-FHSS four channel surface radio
Normal and High-Speed Modes:
Normal mode frame rate is (FHSS/S-FHSS) 13.63ms and accepts any
type of servos or peripherals.
High-Speed mode (in 4PL tx only), with an output of 6.8ms accepts
digital servos including the BLS series and most peripheral
equipment such as brushless ESCs"

Hmm..I'll need to test back to back with the included 4PX receiver too. But right now the 4PX/204 combo seems faster than my standard 4PK with 603/614 FASST receivers I was using mainly before.

But yeah, thats just with a 4PK. I have not tried a 4PKS-R extensively.

Looks like A-main has released the 4PX insert for their radio box. I will rock my 4PK aluminum case until Futaba releases their fancy 4PX one. :)

Would be nice if they did like Amain and just released an insert that we could use in the 4PK case. Doubt they will though.

Does anyone know of an aftermarket trigger cushion.

Shawn_S 10-25-2014 07:22 PM

Had a great first race with my 4PX. My number one fear was just how visible the screen was going to be in direct sunlight. And I can say even with sunglasses on, there isn't the slightest issue seeing the screen. Very clear and bright. I've raced a Radiopost for the last 2 years, and its night and day.

I love the fat 'large' handle the US ones come with. This is going to be a great radio for long nitro mains. Can't wait till that carbon carry handle comes out.

I've have my 4PX since the last week of September and Im very please with it's feel and performance. Im pretty sure that the FASST system is faster than the FHSS systems. In regards to the trigger it has a wider span. A piece of fuel tubing, cut down the center, and some string tubing will do the trick and give you the feel that you are looking for.
