According to the Futaba store and some marketing stuff I read (translated poorly from Japanese) it comes with either, the E version being slightly cheaper - buyer choice. There doesn't appear to be a double receiver kit (yet) though last I checked.

The E is the electric only receiver with an inbuilt aerial. It's about $10 cheaper than the non E version.

R304SB-E

R304SB

What's the difference between the 304 and the 204 listed here?

after seeing the unit physically. my 2 cents are, this might be the color version of the 4PLS and it might not be the replacement model of 4PKRS except for premium in price(and the 4PKSR is on sale-means stock clearance).
also, it seems to contradict the FASST system(receivers) that they have been using in the 4PK's, which are more expensive)
to balance out the price by using a less expensive receiver.
again, my 2 cents only.

if that is true, i am expecting a real replacement of 4PKSR.

I've said this same stuff too. I just find it hard to believe they would do away with their higher priced (FASST) receivers for lower priced ones (and make the FASST ones the slower). I'll buy the PX and if they come out with a PX-S for faster FASST speeds I'll buy that one too.

Suddenly, the more expensive FASST receiver become less favourable with 4PX.

I still doubt this is the end game, see above.

If know one has noticed yet. the 4PX is listed on Amain for upcoming release Sept 11th.
says the sight will have it in stock.

Also, good chance TowerHobbies will get it a nudge sooner, i think since they are the main distributer for Futaba.. (i could be wrong)

It's BETA vs VHS

Only Futaba was developing FASST. Everyone else was in parallel developing FHSS.

Sony abandoned BETA (even though it was superior in a number of ways) and then joined everyone else in further developing VHS. Futaba are possibly doing the same.

I can understand that however Futaba doesn't have a high end FHSS receiver. Did they all the sudden kill their higher profit margin receivers (FASST) and decide to cheapen their product range? That doesn't make business sense. That's why I believe there will be a 4PX-R.

Futaba still calls the FHSS their budget receivers on their site. Go look at the FASST and FHSS pages on the Futaba website.

Futaba introduced FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) systems in 2010, to offer modelers a less expensive way to enjoy 2.4GHz dependability. Other advantages include extremely low latency, exceptionally fast frame rates, transmitters with no external antennas and low-cost receivers with Easy Link convenience.

it makes sense, and also doesn't.
anyone else think Futaba might come out later with a higher end FHSS receiver?
maybe they will with the next iteration of the 4PX

also, if FHSS was going to be their flagship tech they would have already updated the info about the tech on their site but they haven't.

choisan 08-16-2014 05:23 AM

there is a compatible 4PKS's FASST receiver in taobao.com and it is about $25.
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...id=18524554442

i am not sure if there is any FHSS compatible receive to this FHSS for 4PX. Maybe this is why futaba used something which may not have compatible in the market yet.
my 2 cents

nexxus 08-16-2014 06:35 PM

That Frsky receiver is C1 compatible which the 4pksr can switch to but the later Fasst rx's use C2, the 4px can't use C1 or std FHSS so rx's like the Frsky, R603 etc will not work with it

ready rollers 08-16-2014 07:41 PM

Can someone just list the receivers that can work with the 4px please.
