I wonder if they have improved the "horizontal" buttons? 4pk buttons around the selection knob have the tendency to get dirt in them and stop working. Have had to take my 4pks completely apart and try to spray them out with cleaner. Worked somewhat.

I had to recalibrate mine otherwise I couldn't get full throttle without really mashing the trigger. Seems better since I did that, still working out how to adjust the slider esc, the trigger is larger compared to the 4pksr and both trigger pieces are a similar size. Installing the dropdown is significantly harder than on the 4pksr so take your time there!

It does fit the 4pksr bag nicely though

Question where do you screw on the drop-down because I seen photo and the Drop down doesn't have screw like the 4pk drop down that has 3 screw in the outside

nexxus 08-11-2014 10:35 PM

screws are internal which is why it's a royal pain to do!

Does it come with screen protector film like the 4pks r? Is this a more scratch resistant display screen?

cplus 08-12-2014 02:00 AM

Damn you blokes that have them already!!

Clawhammers 08-12-2014 03:13 AM

Yeah.. however the instruction / manual is in Japanese :p

cplus 08-12-2014 03:40 AM

Doesn't it have on screen instructions for most stuff?

Nope!

Another downside is some are coming with the R304SB-E Receiver, which Futaba states only has a range of 70m

That's a far cry from the Big Squid Shootout results of 1058 feet (322m) for a 3pl (FHSS) and 1233 feet (375m) for the 4pks (Fasst)

It's available here but man at a premium price.

Cool radio. Love the color screen

nexxus 08-12-2014 08:39 PM

They are out of stock, and it includes the tx battery which is usually extra, so not really a premium.

choisan 08-12-2014 10:47 PM

to my understanding, hk is already out of stock(parallel imported from japan).

According to the Futaba store and some marketing stuff I read (translated poorly from Japanese) it comes with either, the E version being slightly cheaper - buyer choice. There doesn't appear to be a double receiver kit (yet) though last I checked.

The E is the electric only receiver with an inbuilt aerial. It's about $10 cheaper than the non E version.

R304SB-E

R304SB

Unless you only race electric indoors, it is highly unlikely you want this! I just went through this when looking to order another receiver for a new car (1/5th) and thought I'd transfer the receiver out of 418 TC and use the E in that. The 75m limit would be borderline on my home track so I passed! I expect the normal version would get similar 300m+ range. I hope so.

I guess it would be fine for VRC though

I'd have to test, I had an R603 running on a 4pk that lost the external antenna but still got a good 150m range outdoors.

It's almost worthwhile selling the R614's and buying R304's

Do you have pictures so I can see the internal screw and in what car do you use the radio? Thanks
