I currently have a hotwire 1.0 & Samsung tab 4 7". After I bought the tab 4 7" I found out it doesn't support otg (I know, I should have read more before spending the $). After reading through everything, it appears the tab 4 7" SHOULD work with a hotwire 2.0 (which doesn't require otg use). Is this correct? Can anyone confirm that a tab 4 7" (or tab 3 7") will work with Hotwire 2.0? |

The OTG is built into the 2.0 so I would assume you will still have the same problem.

I haven't experienced it but randy has said that some otg cords don't have the right pin configuration or missing one or something. I got a cheap otg from china for like $4 or something and didn't have an issue. Maybe if you see someone at the track tuning with the app with a 1.0 ask them if you can use their cable... or their 2.0 if that's what they are using. |

Like lala said, hotwire 2.0 had the otg built into it, that's it. But the phone or tab needs to support otg operation or it doesn't matter what you plug into it, it won't work.

I got confirmation from Randy_Pike over on the rx8 thread the problem is the Samsung galaxy tab 4 7". It doesn't have USB otg capabilities. I'm now trying to get confirmation that the Samsung galaxy tab 4 8" (which I think has USB otg capacity) will work. |

Hey Waflet, are there any signs of life when you connect the Tab4 to a HotWire and ESC? It could be a power issue, possible that they just left out the power pins on the 7" version which would make it not support OTG.
From the reading I have done (after buying it:cry:) the tab 4 7" does not have USB otg capability at all. I found a couple of threads where people were trying to set up work around, but no one was successful. The tab 3 7" also has the same problem. 1badgoat reports hotwire works on the tab 3 8" &, from what I'm reading, the tab 4 8" has USB otg capability, so it should work. I just bought it, so I can return it to bestbuy & get the 8". That should solve my problem. I would like to get confirmation that Hotwire will work on the samsung tab 4 8" before I take it back though... |
As long as the Tablet supports OTG and you have the proper cable for that device, yes you will be fine.
We don't have that specific tablet in our stable but we do have a Tab1, Tab2 in both 7" and 10" variants. All work. |
So at this point are we sure a galaxy tab 3 7" will NOT support OTG?

Can anyone confirm that a tab 4 7" (or tab 3 7") will work with Hotwire 2.0? We always recommend doing the proper research before buying a device. Not all support OTG. There are some free diagnostic tools to download and check via the Playstore to see if the device does indeed support otg: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ostdiagnostics We simply cannot be buying and testing on all the devices, there are far too many. I try to list and post links to any of the devices we have users tell us are confirmed working along with their firmwares, etc. All of which are posted here: http://www.teamtekin.com/forum/viewf...5646fb3b01f6d1 So if you have a device that you know works, shoot me the info and I'll post i up: [email protected] |

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/gal...EPL-AU10WEGXAR http://compare-e-readers.com/galaxy-...pports-usb-otg Shows compatible models that it says works on, this is generally good info to go by. So again it's odd stuff by Samsung. I had it backwards where the 8" supports OTG, and the 7" doesn't. |

The "OTG" that is built in is a commonly missing pin circuit. the OTG support and required items are ALWAYS required in the Android device itself, not the HW 2.0. So no matter what the device you choose MUST support OTG itself. The HW 2.0 simply allows for more cables to work, etc. |
Ok so no luck with the tab 3 7"// What about my Galaxy s3 phone? I have version 4.4.+ will that version work with the hotwire 2.0?
Also if I get a s5 it should still work due to subsequent versions from 4.4.+ on will work correct? Granted that I use the correct Cable. |
If the s3 supports otg it should work. Try it with the esc powered up.
