Good option! Thanks.

You can now get 9800 mah 3.7 volt 18650 batteries. These would last a very long time, and they are cheap. I can get 4 ea. and a charger for $13, shipped. I really wish all radios had these as std.

Is there a secret to getting this thing to bind with SR301 receivers? I tried increasing the frame rate but it didn't work.
|
They won't bind with DSM "1" receivers anymore. Makes a lot of my gear obsolete!
Thanks for the battery tip, platgof. I think I've got a few of those hanging around. |
Any Issues with this Transmitter?
Looking at upgrading from a DX2s - have not broken a steering spring with my DX2s, but seeing quite a few posts here that the tension spring has been breaking with the DX4r.
maybe it was a few bad springs in the bunch? I did have one break in a RTR spektrum transmitter many years ago. I like the feel of the DX4r compared to the Airtronics MT4s (too small steering wheel and no drop down - which feels nice). thanks. |
Seems to be a common problem across the board with Spektrum radios. There's a Futaba heli part that fits the bill, is cheap, but is a little stronger than the Spektrum items. Futm3640

Got the Yeah Racing steering wheel. Supposed to fit Spektrum, but it's going to take some work to make that happen. The adapter is about 0.5mm too small on the inside. Shaving that out cleanly will be tricky.

I have been using the NIZN batteries since April 2014, and absolutely the best thing I ever did for this radio. Almost 2 years and no issues. I use 2 sets as I swap them out, so one set can rest after use. It must be working! I usually recharge at 6.4 volts, imagine that.

Swapping how often? Every heat? Each race day?

These last for two days of racing easily. I swap to make it very easy on the batteries, and I do the same thing for my rc cars. When I buy batteries, I always buy in sets of two. When the radio gets near 6.4 volts, I swap them. I am getting two years of high performance use for around $30 and still going strong. I think they are reading around 6.9 volts now when charged, but read 7.1 when new.

I run my ni-zn batteries for like 6 weeks of racing before they get to 6.4 or so and I change them out.
