any idea on when the 8.5 motor will be available? it's been on pre-order for quite a while

To add to Slackers post from what I understand things are going well with the new motors...no dates yet but I think we are to the sooner than later stage.
I will update this as soon as I hear anything I am able to share with the masses.

I have been quite happy with the old model 9.5 I have in my SCB. Pretty smooth, has interacted with the tuning from my Viper VTX10 very well, easy to drive. Noisy, but everything else has been stellar. If the new motors are anywhere near as good at a similar price it's an absolute steal.

If you want to quiet the motor down consider the ceramic bearings from SMC in the motors.

That's my understanding as well.

I'm VERY interested in these new motors and their availability too. I'm currently holding off on completing my B5M so that I can get an SMC 8.5T and square battery pack.

I've never seen brushless motors as offroad only... not sure what you mean? The SMC motors are as good if not better than plenty of the motors used onroad, give them a shot for sure.

get the mod version of the 10.5 unless you need a super stock motor. I am pretty sure the mod version has a mod motor in it.

You mean there is a difference between the 10.5 listed under stock and the one listed under mod? Now that I look again, they are different part numbers. What's different between the two?

I believe the rotors are different and the stock motors get USA grade copper wire that Danny sent over to Asia for them to use in the manufacturing process.

that also true slakr.

It doesn't matter if I get mod or stock just as long as it's a 10.5. What would be a better motor to get this will be my first smc motor for my touring car. I also might put it in my b4.2 buggy when I need to also. I would like to try one out looks like a great price to. You guys have more experience with these motors than I do. Thanks

To me looks like the stock motor has a 12.5mm rotor in itand us wire in it.
What rotor dose the mod have 12.3mm and what kind of wire?

I believe the whole line period, stock and Mod.......what he has is what he has for now.....they are still doing some final testing on the new motors.....Last I talked to Danny had a specific date in mind that he wanted the new motors out but that being said I know he wont release anything until it is ready,
The new motors are also going to be submitted to Roar for approval.
