My 1st gen rx8 case came apart and nuked itself. Was 2nd time using it, barely 2 months old. Has anyone had a case let go?

Good excuse for me to upgrade to the Gen 2. Hope it doesnt happen to this one.

I'm sure this has been covered at some point but I am pretty much a complete noob to e-buggy. Whats a good temp range to run for a Gen 2 1900? At practice last night I was around 150* with a 16tooth pinion in my Eco 7. dropped to a 14tooth and temps only dropped 5*
this is a somewhat tight indoor clay track. I'm use to Novarossi engines and 270 to 280* is the sweet spot :D

The T8's run best under 180 degrees.

Follow the steps located here for getting it serviced/replaced. www.teamtekin.com/service.html

Certain chemicals sprayed on or around the ESC can make the case become brittle.

3rd time out with my RX8 G2 and it stops working, after a small jump it cutout, pulled it into the pits and when I pull the throttle it just cogs like its lost a phase and the power cables get hot, guess she is dead?

MySlowZ 11-17-2013 02:44 AM

^^^ maybe the sensor wire is bad.

Totally off topic, sorry...
Ha Ha! Awesome combo of screen name and signature!
#win!

Back on topic, yes, great excuse to upgrade to the gen2  But you can just replace the case for the gen1 if they are still available.

Ok guys was at the track yesterday and my buggy esc and motor seems to be getting quite hot, the esc was around 90 Celsius and motor around 95.

i have a 8ight B 2.0, gearing 17/45 and the timing has being dropped down from 10 (default) to 1.

i thought dropping the timing will do the trick but before i try new gearing/timing i figured it would be worth asking here whether anyone thinks im over geared or under geared cos that esc temp was unusually high (generally happens from under gearing in my experience).

ideally i would like esc temps to not go over 60-65 and motor 80-85

The motor is a T8 1400kv and esc obviously a gen2 rx8.

just btw i cant understand how my 8T 2.0, using the same gearing (17/45) with timing also on 1, only difference is the motor which is a T8 1350kv, runs much cooler
(motor hardly ever goes over 80 and esc around 55-60)

any help will be much appreciated, thanks

battery: 3300mah 65c nano 6S 22.2v

Really check over your A B C motor wires and sensor cable. As a test, power off, unplug the sensor cable, test motor drive? Worse or better?

It doesn't take much of a bad connection on the A B C wires to cause rough running.

The default setting is at 80 which is a good starting setup. Most do end up in the 60-70 range.

I have been playing around with this a lot. I may have the wrong motor for our track but the 4300HD is just too much for me to handle (granted I am not an expert). I am down to 35.. yes 35 Cl and it is still very fast and I still pull people on the straights.

Can someone explain how it works? From 80 down to 50 I really cant see that much of a difference. SCTE 2.0 with 14/40 Rx8 gen 2 with 0 timing.

Everyone else in the class is using the pro 4 4600 so I may give that a shot.

17/45 on a 1400kv motor with what battery?

2 things.

Be sure to go and download the latest software

We just released a new version.

Also note that you must insert the programming cable into the port, STRAIGHT.

Please update your Hotwire to the 9.8.5 and retest.

The update appears to have resolved the problem.

Is there a extension cable available for the fan port or a Y to allow plugging the hotwire in easier. Mine is in a spot that makes it tough to access but I do always make sure it is fully seated.

You can use a short extension cable. This allows you to put that connection where you can get to it easier.

The Gen2 has the programming port via the fan port.

Yes I use the fan port. Any idea what the name or type of cable that is? I can find receiver style extension cable.

On my scte I run the fan so it is pain to use this port
