I'll give that a shot, thanks! I've always run a very small neutral width - 5. I won't be able to test until this evening or tomorrow, but I'll try it.

Thats what i run 10 neutral , also you should considered gearing down a tooth 190 sounds a we bit on the warm side , i know the RX8 can handle some temps , in my case my temps are around 160 , 180 depending if im running outsde or indoor tracks , what size pinion gear are you running ,

RC_Tactical 07-13-2013 06:29 PM

temps on motor are without fan, indoor, 90 degree ambient. 190 on motor is just right IMHO; with fan, it comes down to 160 at 12 min. For my 6min races, it doesn't even break a sweat. I'm running a 14 tooth pinion.

Bought a Gen 2 RX8 thinking the new version would nit have all the issues the old ones did. Pit in in a 1/8th Oval dirt Late Model and ran for 3 minutes. Charged battery up and went to run again and the ESC just keeps wanting to calibrate. When you get to the last step where you should hear a confirmation tone, it delays and starts all over wanting to calibrate again. Any thoughts? Completely lost and frustrated!!!

I can't get my RX8 gen 2 to turn on. Brand new, everything looks set up correctly. Tried all the troubleshooting ideas from the instructions except hooking up to hotwire.

Any ideas???

darkstar make sure radio and receiver is bound or bind to the right model i`ve done that so im talking from experience , once i did that RX8 came on LOL

I am thinking about picking one of these up for my lcg slash, I currently have mamba monster 2 and 2200kv on 4s. I am tired of having a external bec, and am thinking about switching over. Was just curious if this speed control could be as reliable as a mm2, also If I threw in the tekin 2250kv motor I am guessing it won't be as powerful, but it should be pretty close shouldn't it? I couldn't find wattage ratings for it. Vehicle is pretty much a basher.

Thx for the idea. I think that might have done it. Unit is powering up now, but giving me an error message corresponding to HIGH neutral. Steering is working, but not throttle. Says to calibrate the radio on the instructuons. Gonna try that now.

Also, I tried to update the firmware to the new 9.6x using hotwire. Where is the actual upgrade on the page? Seems like the only downloads on the page are for the Tekin PC software. Don't see any links to firmware.

Now I'm having an issue with the getting the motor running. The esc is still showing me these 3 flashing lights that seem to mean high neutral. I'm running futaba 4pk. I did try to reverse the throttle servo and that didn't do it. I'm going to keep messing around w/ calibration, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you turn down your neutral width on radio? Do that and reverse your throttle. Should be good to go.

fq06 07-14-2013 07:05 AM

You mean turn up the neutral width right?
That's been an issue that's popped up quite a bit lately and it all depends on which radio it is. My MT-4 has no issue with a setting of 5, but other radios could need up to 15. Not a good radio or bad radio thing, just saying different radios need different NW settings.

Darkstar, try setting NW at 15 and see if that works? If it does, try at 10, get it close to as low as you can go, may be 7 or 12 or whatever it is for your radio's neutral to be found and then raise it by one or two for a buffer.

I don't run futaba but I know one of them (futaba, KO?) needs the throttle channel to be reversed as imageX pointed out.

Yeah... that's what I meant. ESC won't calibrate if it can't find neutral.

Also if you know futaba? TX throttle is reverse and RX is normal on the ESC?

In calibration, I would think your esc is finding neutral, then forward but it can't find reverse.

Remove expo on throttle channel, put throttle & brake hot buttons/dials to 100%, set end points to max then try to recalibrate.
Put whatever expo you wanted back in when you get confirmation chime.
