Official Tekin RX8 GEN2 ESC Thread

I wonder what...say...10 points of drag brake in hotwire correlates to of drag brake in quick mode? Hmm
(I put 10 in with the hotwire but don't bring a laptop to the track....so if I change it with quick mode I'm not sure how to know if I'm going more or less than the 10 I put in with hotwire...unless I just make some laps of course) ?

Im surprised that those candy apple red esc cases have not shown up here on tech yet!
randy, were they for your rides? I'm sure im opening another can of worms on the colored esc cases! I personally dont care if they are white or black! my white ones i took a sharpie and colored in TEKIN logo and the a b c and - + on case also (old eyes) lol
I can see some painting all these wild colors and running a clear body to see the esc! lmbo!

Hey Randy or anybody. I just got the rx8 gen2 and I wanted to update my hotwire as i have the 8.4 the 223 version downloaded on my net pad. The new vegas 9.5 version from april 2013 is what I wanted to download from the tekin page but the only download it will let you download is the 9.6 version which I didnt want. Well then I tried to download the 9.6 version restarted my computer plugged it in to my rspro and it said I had the same 223 version in the setup category. How do I get the 9.5 version.

One click of the button will download firmware for all escs to the newest version from the below link.
Plug in gen1 RX8 and it will update the latest for that. Plug in rspro and it will update the firmware for that. Plug in gen2 RX8 and it will update firmware for that.
Once you have updated your CPU, all are in that update.
See the latest versions that you will receive based on the ESC model here. I believe you can grab old firmware if you want further down the page.

Corrected, didnt read that right.
From memory you could go back to old versions of firmware on that page.
Its not there any longer. When they had issues with a Vegas update a few versions ago many went back to old firmware until the issues were resolved and I'm almost positive that it was on that main hotwire page.
Not there, not sure how to go back... but the new is good. Why do you want old firmware?

I have a problem:
I ran a Gen2 with 1900 Tekin motor in a EB48 with 17 pinion. Savöx 1267 Servo Sanwa M11X radio. 4S 7200 CS Racing Battery.
No boost no timing. BEC 7,4Volt 3,4 Volt cutoff per cell. deadband 15
We run 15 minutes mains and after 13 Minutes the car just stoppt. engine had 100 degree Celsius and speedo 90 degree celsius. After switsching the car of and on....everything was o.k. but my main was done.
Any sugesstions???
Thanks

All I can say is WOW, its a night and day difference, now I see why all the fast guys use tekin. I finished 5th out of 15 but I think that's because I was under geared, I was losing a ton of speed in the straight. I didn't know what pinion to use switching from my castle set up, since I had no chance to test it out. Ill do some practice today and be ready for next race

Only the 9.6 238 will load to the RX8 Gen2 & RS Gen2.
And likewise, only 224 will load to RX8 Gen1.
Only 223 will load to RS & RS Pro.
I don't know of a blinky mode in these, their 1/8 scale so there's no stock blinky class to need that even with 4x SCT, no stock class.
If you click the "download" button, that's where you load the firmware. If you click hotwire on any Tekin page it takes you to the hotwire page. If you click RX8 it takes you to the RX8 page, click RS Pro and it takes you to the RS Pro page and so on.
On occasion my ESC will not be found. Close program, unplug hotwire and start over. Some computers only like to use one of the usb ports, try a different one. Also make sure you push the mini USB into the hotwire hard, it takes effort or it may not be fully plugged in.
I would remove hotwire from your computer and click the download button that is above the text that I pasted below on the hotwire page to reinstall it and go from there.

I mount my switch sideways to the chassis or with the on position facing forward to try to avoid it possibly getting moved out of the on position.
For lvc, if you set it to 4s, your good but its a little lower cut off than I like to run.
If you set it to custom 3.4... that's not 3.4v per cell, that's 3.4v total voltage so essentially you have disabled lvc
