I also find your situation quite odd. I run an eb48.3 with a T8i 1950kv motor and 3600mAh SMC lipos and have no issues with low end punch.
Are you running the same tires as the other guys, prepping them the same? (cleaning/saucing) I'm curious if your lack of low end punch is actually just wheelspin? Also I hope to not sound like an ahole but you should probably redo your solder job. The "A" tab on the motor is the only one that looks good, the "C" tab you can see bare wires that the solder isn't coating, and the ones that i can see at the esc look pretty bad too. I'm not sure if this could contribute to your problem, but it can't hurt to have it done right. And the tire thing is even more frustrating... my friend that has the $25esc, $30 motor, etc.. and cheap batts, also has balding chinese tires... He has to literally feather his throttle or the car basically jumps off the ground. My car stays planted like its supposed to, just doesn't have the oomph i was expecting. The track's I have been running aren't big. 2 of them are very small, and one is mediumish. Here are the 3 tracks below. I was running 14t @ S&S 15-17t @ DDHRC 16t @ FZRC After work ill try to get my logs from hotwire and post my setup. Thanks for the help. |
Deceit, could it be that your friends motor just has more punch? I'm thinking diff manufacter's motors have diff power curves. Are you having any trouble clearing jumps? In my eb48.3, i run a 19t pinion, torq of 7 and thr min of 2. I don't remember my freq settings but it more on the smooth side (higher than default) on the thr. However, I personally prefer a smoother throttle as long as I can easily clear all the jumps because I can control my corning speed and jumping distance better.

RX8 GEN2 and Hotwire connected with DX6R
Team Tekin, I see JRMITCH has his DX6R. Has Tekin tested the radios included Hotwire App and connecting the DX6R to the RX8 GEN2?
If so or if not when possible will you test and list any parts that will be needed to make changes. Thank You in advance |

I have a few SMC 4s 6500mah 60c batts for my EB48, and I have a bunch of SMC 5000mah 50c 2s batts (that I use for my SCT) that I was intending on linking together as spares when my main batts are down.
Now with the tight area of the EB, I would have to stagger them and have them flipped away from each other like in my pic.. I am wondering if that added length of the battery line + link line would cause issues with the ESC? I have read that having longer lines is hard on the ESC, with the increased resistance, etc... but wasn't sure at what length that happens. I don't want any extra strain on my RX8, was just wanting to use the extra batts if possible. Not a big deal if i can't. Threads like this scare me away from this... While I am not to concerned with the lipo's, I just don't want to damage my Tekin system. |

Don't want the bullet plugs to take a beating and cause the internal solder joints to fail. |
thanks, i was worried cause that is a lot of extra wire... Thanks for the tip about the spacers.

I ran long battery wires running dual shorty packs in my 8ight 3.0. Ran that way well over a year and no issues.

Does anyone have a idea of whats going on here? This started after I bound all my RX's to 1 Radio, and made my RX8 always hot (the power switch wire got cut). It only does this off take off, and is perfectly fine after 10% throttle... I can still run on the track fine, and have no issues, but id still like to figure out why it is doing this so I can fix it.
???? Why?? ]: |
I would start by replacing your sensor wire.

I am running a Tekin sensor wire on both my EB and SCT, I unplugged and plugged it back in, I haven't tried running it unplugged....

It's cogging. Are you running a sensor wire? Try unplugging it and see if it improves. If so, you have a bad sensor lead. If you are not running a sensor wire, you should.
|
You're assuming the sensor wire is the issue. Note that if you unplug/plug in the sensor harness you should cycle the power switch or battery on/off to re test the system.
The Rx8 is equipped with a sensor tester feature, the video of the same feature on the RS Gen2 is on our YouTube channel. |
