Got a problem, when I press the trigger, there is a lot of lag before anything happens, any ideas? RX8 g2 and T8 1900. I also need a setup that is middle of the road performance wise. Thanks!

Here are some setups: http://www.teamtekin.com/hotwire/esc...up-sheets.html |
I kicked up the throttle minimum iaw some earlier Randy Pike advice and it worked. I set it at 6, and then tried 8, what a difference. This thing is stupid fast. DX4R. I am using a 15 pinion, Losi E 3.0, and the 16 seemed smoother, but not as punchy.

This. They are so inexpensive and not much bigger than a smart phone. If I hadn't had a laptop already I would have went that route.
I have a couple of questions for the Tekin tech guys. What is the type of USB connector on the Hotwire? Is there a way to power the Hotwire when not using a computer USB port? The Fire doesn't supply power out of it's USB port. Possibly with a battery connected to the speed controller or a powered USB hub between the Hotwire and Tablet? Has anyone actually setup this 7" Fire Tablet and the Hotwire App and made changes to the RX8 Gen2 Speed controller? I have installed the Google Play Store on the tablet and I have installed the Hotwire App but it doesn't find the Hotwire and goes into Demo mode. I am hoping that my only problem is that I'm not supplying enough power to the speed controller. |

I went and purchased an Amazon Fire 7" Tablet and I have started the process to install the Hotwire App. It has been fun.

I just finished installing my esc and while adjusting the current limiter the manual states there should be 1-13 increase but I am only getting 1-7. The lights just light up 1 then 1&2 then 1&2&3 and so on. I am not getting the 1 then 1&2 then 2 only. Any others have this problem am I missing something. Thanks for any help. Ed.

Is it me or is the softest torque setting still to strong? I have a torque setting of 1 and it still blows the tires away with a 1900 tekin buggy motor. I think the older torque setting could dial back more.

I actually have the opposite issue. I have a Tekin T8 1900kv and a Tekin RX8 Gen 2 w/ SMC 6500 60c, and I have tried v255 setups from the website, default setup, and I don't have much "punch" to the system.. my friends I run with have a $25 GoolRc 120amp and a knock off motor, and 30c lipos, and have way more torque and power than I do, while having the same top end. I can't even think about getting the front wheels to come up, and they have to feather it to even make it around the track..
Any tips on what I can change to get more power out of this setup? Don't get me wrong, it is quick, but it feels underpowered compared to my friends $50 setup. |
Wow that's odd. You have the torque control off? With my torque disabled it's balls out as soon as I hit the trigger. I have one in my revo and it's very powerful. I actually prefer it to my castle setup cause it feels like it reacts faster and has more power.

It was at 7 from the setup i downloaded, i turned it up to max today to see if it would change anything... didn't notice a difference.
the power is extremely smooth, but I was looking for some more burst out of it. I was using TyCampbells after first, which has 0 throttle min, then when I went default I believe it is 25. Is that what I need to adjust to get punch? Would that be harder on the battery/temps? I also use a Tekin power capacitor as seen in this picture. |
Just curious as to why Tekin went away from the current limiter to a torque setting? My understanding is that they do the same thing. The current limiter had more resolution 1 to 100 vs the torque setting of 1 to 10.

Torque works in a totally different manner than the old CL did. During test of the torque setting the team found the currently offered selections more than sufficient to cover any conditions. We simplified the settings from 10 and down to help the customers get up to speed quicker with the new settings. Personally I find 7-8 ideal on medium to high grip. I've gone as low as 5 with low grip. Each step is clearly felt by the driver however it's not a huge jump where you're stuck in the middle of two. |
