[QUOTE=Kamewadave;14207678]Hi,

Switch was moved to/from on/off -

Radio off - never bound to receiver.
Receiver not bound - no indication of power at all.
ESC - no lights, no indication of power.

Truly - this was absolutely the first time I have tried to power up the ESC and that makes me wonder if have missed something - I have the Hotwire connection and expected that I would power up the ESC, bind it to the receiver and then configure the ESC (down load updates, adjust the BEC settings, etc.)

i have about less than zero experience with Tekin products - and I am hoping that I need to do something "magical" like hold both the "mode" and "inc" buttons down for 3.5 seconds (not 3 and not 4 - 3.5 only) to reset it.

I crash and sometimes fly hell's, so I am somewhat familiar with soldering, esc's, programing radio's and the like; but I haven't built and run a truck since '93.

So I'm thinking that I haven't done something right - from all my research, Tekin builds good kit - tough and reliable; so the fault must lie with my build or connections.

But I guess the real questions are:

What should I expect during the initial power-on of the ESC?

Is there any info on what the connection to connection ohm readings should be on a healthy ESC? (A to B, A to C, + to -, etc.?)

It is looking as though I have an open on the circuit - since the unit acts like it isn't powered. But I don't want to open the back and poke around. Are there any non-invasive tests (electrical) that anyone knows about? Or should I just cry "Uncle" and send the unit back to Tekin?[/QUOTE

With my hi-tech radio my esc will not turn on until radio is turned on and esc gets a signal from receiver

Kamewadave...

step 1- connect battery (check first all wired correctly)

step 2- turn on radio, then turn on the esc

step 3- check for any codes.. (blinking lights) hopefully none

step 4- confirm all radio trims on the radio are at 0 or 100 (throttle and brake)

step 5- Do the radio calibration (see item 9 on the set-up sheet)
Press and hold the mode button for 3-5 seconds until esc beeps and blinks 4 times... follow the instructions from there to calibrate nuetral, full throttle, brake...

after that you are good to go.
Connect your hotwire and set your esc to what you want. they recommend you try the stock settings to start.

I just set up mine on a Spectrum radio, no issues. I then set up a friends on his Futaba and had to reverse his throttle to get it to calibrate.

hope that helps for what you were asking.

I will give it a try.

Regarding the Sanwa/Airtronics servo mode (M12s), will the RX8 be able to handle the SHR or SSR modes or does it have to be used on the normal (NOR) mode?

thanks.

Anyone??

Pretty sure mine is in shr, I'll have to turn it on when I get home. I know steering is on shr so if you have to have all or none on shr... then yes... it works in shr.

Thanks a lot, I'm off to a race soon and I don't have the time to test, but i can already feel the steering servo is slightly faster on SHR so would be nice if i could run the esc on SHR as well.

Oh and you set each channel individually, so you could use SHR on steering (CH1) and NOR on throttle (CH2) for example.

And lastly it's under the "BIND menu.

Thanks again.

Yep, tekno truck is shr for both throttle & steering.

Question- on my data logging via Hotwire. The wide open throttle only registers as 80. Yet I get all lights on the ESC. Brake too only registers -80 when full.

I have calibrated. I'm reasonably sure I'm getting full throttle when driving. Yet Hotwire is 80.

Is this correct. I'd have thought it should show 100.

We haven't had any issues with either mode.

NO, what you're seeing is a total range of accepted full throttle signal. Most radios are in the 80 range here.

To verify your esc is getting full throttle/brake you can simply hold either down and watch the LED's ramp up and then flash at WOT or Full brake.

Hey Guys,
I have a Problem with my tekin rx8 gen2. If i use sensor cable to connect my esc with my motor, the esc dont start.
I tryed different Cables and motors, the Problem is always there.
Anyone an idea?

Random outages

Reedy 4600 55c 4s pack

Futaba 4PK-S
Throttle epa 85
Brake epa 45
Throttle speed 100
Throttle expo - 25

RX8 Gen 2
Current limiter 55
Servo voltage 7.4
Throttle min. 0
Neutral width 10
Timing 10
Geared 44/18 in Tekno EB48.3

I've been having the exact same issue. There doesn't seem to be a noticable pattern to the outage either. Sometime it's after a 5 mins, sometimes it's after 1, I could have a hard landing and it'll happen, and another it'll just turn off at a low load point and coast to a stop. I don't loose steering, I've changed the receiver with brand new one and still the issue keeps happening. I was originally using a Pro4 4600, I replaced that with a Reedy 544 4800 trying to fix the issue and still nothing. The temp lights are 2-3, motor temps top out at 150.

Sounds like a shorted sensor board. What motor is it?

What are all the items in your car?

What software are you using?
