I wasnt to impressed with them compared to my 2 year old 75c 4200mah Speedzone. It actually felt smoother. Very consistent through out a run but nothing to write home about for punch.

I ran the new pack yesterday. I use the iCharger 308. Charged at 12 amps. The pit area was probably about 68-70 deg.

First cycle, the IR was 3.3/3.4
2nd cycle I discharged all the way down to 3.2 / cell and then back up at 12 amps. IR was 2.5/2.5
the rest of the day I did the same process. On the final cycle (maybe 6th one?) IR was 2.1/2.1

I can't say that I noticed a huge difference in the way the pack performed compared to my older 4300 pack. That one has IR numbers in the 3.2 range. I'm reserving judgement until I have another full race day on it. It's by no means a bad battery. I'm just not sold yet that I need this battery over the cheaper lower C version.

I was running 2wd buggy (17.5 class)

Similar results I had but my IR was a little bit lower on average maybe because I was charging a little higher and discharging at 40amps..Have about 5 cycles on one pack so far.. looking to test out the other pack next weekend. I'll take some IR pic's from my iCharger 406

Maybe because you were running that same battery and seeing incremental improvements each time, it was harder to notice. Between 3.2 and 2.1 I would think you'd be able too see/feel the difference if you ran them back to back. Plus I would not be surprised to see that 2.1 drop below 2 after a couple more cycles.

I too was disappointed to see the FedEx only shipping options.

Well I compared the new pack to an old pack. Old pack was still in the 3's. The new pack was definitely good. I'm just going to run it some more times before I make a definitive 'this is a must have for 17.5' comment. If anything I think it's a tribute to the older packs.

I will say that a few other guys at the same track yesterday were getting much more out of their batteries. One was running the Trinity pack and another Psycho Cells. They had IR's in the 1.4 to 1.8 range.

I think it might be tougher for a smaller guy to ship a large volume of potentially volatile or hazardous LiPos than other more inert products like fans, weights, or even ESCs. USPS may have conveyed to Danny that they won't take the LiPos without additional packaging which would increase his materials cost.

Given the hit and miss experience I've had with USPS lately, I'm fine paying $2 more or so to go with FedEx. My order arrived 3 days early as well.

I just ordered my resistor bank so I can discharge at 30 so I'm hoping I'll get some better numbers then once I can use it.

what are you guys charging at for the 4300 and the 4000? I wasn't sure how hard we can charge these things without risking them. I'm typically a mod guy so it doesn't make a ton of difference

The Discharge resistor should help out ... I mostly run 13.5 so I tend to charge around 20amps have not had issues at all with any SMC pack over the past 2 years doing this

Oh hmmm I may be jumping the gun on the factory spec shorty. How many cycles should I expect before it opens up.

I only have one of the new packs but I would think anywhere from 4-8 cycles.

Bit disappointed about the weight of the new 4000mah shorty. Placed the order before the weight was advertised. Wanted it for my 17.5. It is heavier than both my 4500mah and 4600mah shorties.

Battery is solid; have 11 cycles on it. I guess I have another Mod battery. And, another addition to my 7x SMC battery family...

is it heavier? I honestly didn't even look at the weight LOL. guess I should check that

honestly though, as long as it's not ridiculously heavier, I'm not worried about it. There's so many ways to drop weight on today's cars. I would rather have a little heavier battery and drop a little weight in other spots.
