So I think I have my second issue.

I bought (2) brnad new packs about 3-4 weeks ago. (1) pack would fully balnce charge to 4.20 volts cell 1 and 4.20 volts cell two. SEcond apck would only charge to 4.19volts cell one and 4.20 volts cell two. No big deal still worked great.

Trying to charge my packs before the race tomorrow and charged the first pack to 4.2 volts cell one and 4.2 volts cell two. Went to charge the second pack and Charger started screaming at me. Shows 1.5 volts cell one and 5 volts cell two. Unplugged charger and plugged back in thinking that might be the problem and registered same thing. Plug first completely charged battery back in and it reads 4.2 volts per cell. Is my pack dead or am I doing something wrong?

I run a tekin Rx8 gen2 with cutoff set at 3.8 volts per cell or 7.6V total. Not sure whats wrong is this is probably the 7-8th charge total on this pack.

I would think the plugs are not the issue since your charger is not having a problem with one pack but...

Just for the heck of it, if your using banana plugs, see if you can spread out the cage a little to get a better contact. I use solid bullets on my charge leads, the PowerLab charger does not like the bird cage plugs. False readings or something and it sporadically will not charge with the bird cage plugs.

Just a thought to try out, 1.5v & 5v sounds like a bad read. Can't see a cell getting that low or high in voltage. You balance charge right?

Also any recommendations for care? I see a ton on the forums and would be interested to cut through it all and hear from the people involved in purchasing and testing these.

Break in? Storage thoughts? Nothing special?
What pack are you currently running now?

Balance charge deans connectors.

Never mind then

If Danny doesn't have anything for you, maybe replace the deans? That's so off it sounds like a connection issue.

These batteries can be charged at 2-3C with little issue. Higher than that can be done but you won't get a complete charge.

No break-in necessary. Charge it and go.

Recommended storage voltage is 3.6-3.8 V per cell. That info is listed in the instructions that come with the pack.
Thanks for the quick and thorough response!

3.8 cut off?? Why? You are losing tons of run time for no reason. At least you can run your RC to cut off and then your packs are already at storage voltage. I set LVC to 3.2-3.4.

My gap volts on my SMC 4S packs are .001.

Still in rookie, 4 min quals and 5 min main. Makes it easy to leave them at storage voltage.

Thinking about running the shorty packs in my 2WD SCT. Anyone running them in their 2WD SCT? How do you like them?

Just seen this posted by SMC on there FB page!

I'm pleased to announce that SMC is now a sponsor on RC Groups and we have our own section in the Vendors forum.

For those who have been following me on RCtech I had a difference with the people running that site and they even suspended me. I will no longer post on RCtech even if they remove my suspension.

Questions can be asked in the thread son RC Groups or on our Facebook page.

That's just wrong. Rctech must have been squeezing him for money. They pushed out one of the most informative people about one of the most mysterious products (lipo).
Wouldn't think Danny would be offensive to someone but looked at his recent posts and as I thought, nothing said that should cause a ban. Unless mods deleted it... but I doubt there was anything to delete.

That's a bad call IMO. Rctech brings smc a lot of business with the amount of traffic through here. Just suck it up and fix what ever has caused this disagreement because its going to cut into your sales if you dont
