I know exactly how you feel, as this very same problem occured with me and my, once, LRP setup..

I tried everything, from changing sensor wires, motors, receivers, batteries, radios, capacitors, but nothing seemed to fix the issue. Finally I came to the conclusion that this ESC had some sort of internal errors occuring inside, so I simply swapped it out for a HW v3.1. I've been running the HW with the same setup exactly as I was using with the flow when the stuttering was caused, and I have had no issues at all. I was running the v5 stock firmware, with the TP 17.5T motor with high torque rotor. Ran the same setup at the state titles held here, and no issues at all.

Problem solved!!! it was my old m8 radio, picked up a new mt4 and NO MORE GLITCHING, no issues what so ever.

5.8fdr, motor came off around 40-50deg, original software.

I ran these settings with my X20 13.5 on std motor timing and it pulled like a train and stayed at under 50 deg,I ran a wtf fan on the motor,

Hi!

Im running v1.4 and I discover that In Mode 6, Turbo Timing #3 is more powerful than #5. Anyone experienced this before? I know in the manual says its only 3 selection of Turbo Timing but actually it got 5 selection. Selection #4 will make car vibrate and the last selection is not powerful enough. Weird..:confused:

Hi guys,

New to the forum and new to TC boosted racing, just started in 17.5 boosted.
I just got my Flow Works and X20 17.5 and did two race meets with it but I need some tuning and as I was busy, I discovered that I have exactly the same problem as described up here by a previous poster but I didn’t see any response after his by anyone that could shine some light on this.

Can someone please help me with this, why is it doing this?
We have our Nats coming up in two weeks and really need to get it sorted before then.

Thank you for any help.
Cheers

Most likely it is too much timing.
There is a point where more is not always better.

Charel 11-06-2013 09:29 AM

Thanx for the feedback.
For any future reference the problem was not too much timing but rather a mistake in identity meaning I was under the impression that I had the v5 firmware nut turned out it was the original v1.4. After I updated it to v5 the ESC acts like its supposed to. Always double check your firmware before making assumptions.

LRP Flow Works Team v1.4 vs. v3.3 software

I have a works flow team in my 4wd and 2wd cars and one thing that I noticed is I have way more power using the orginoal v1.4 software over the updated new offroad v3.3 software. I tried it on my 6.5t teking redline in my b44.2 and 13.5t in my tlr 22. both had the same affect. MORE POWER with the 1.4sw. whats the deal?? also notice that my motors run cooler with these speedos.... way more efficent design and software.

WHATS THE DEAL!!!?????

It depends on the settings you used for each.
V1.4 is a general purpose software, tries to do every thing.
v3.3 is intended to allow you to fine tune for varying off-road conditions.
Typically maximum power is not a primary concern, keeping your tires from spinning is usually is.

List the settings you used with each and we can see the differences.
AE off road team almost always runs blinky mode so power should not be an issue with V3.3.

I definetly understand about keeping the tires from spinning lol, with my b44.2 with tekin gen 2 6.5t with v3.3 I was running 013003 with 12 digrees of motor timing and with my 22 tekin 13.5 v3.3 5130843, I know it was a lot of boost but I felt that the car was slower coming from a speed passion reventon r. I installed the v1.4 back on the the FWT and it is a huge difference and faster than the speed passion (that was what I was looking for)

If you are running the same #s on the different firmware, that could be your issue. The settings are different between the different firmwares, so you will need to change the #s to get the same settings. Also, especially if you are on stock ramps for your 13.5, V3.3 may not have the same activation and ramp rates for spec motors, it may only be for mod, I know V4.0 is like that.

Hi guys.

I'm busy trying to get to grips with my Flow works & X20 17.5 combo.
Setting it up for 17.5 Boosted class in my TC6.1 for next seasons racing.
Just got some concerns.
This is with warm South African weather.
Currently running the following settings:
V5.0 firmware
FDR 6.69
Endbell timing 27.5
0-3-3-5-7-2-3
The car feels real good in the infield nice and punchy but lack some serious straight line speed +- 30m main straight.
Also, the temps is very high, although I know this combo likes to run hot but this seems excessive.
With above settings the motor comes off @97deg C on can after a 5min run and at almost 6min it goes into safe mode (blinky) due to overheat.

What is the secret here, is it the FDR, must I go higher 7-8 or lower 5-6?
Thanx

Yesterday

Scott Brown & myself could not program the new 3.3 firmware into three different Flow ESC .

We can load 1.3 , 5.3, ect ..just fine ....

Not doing anything wrong , the computer is great , cord performs normal .
We even uninstalled the LRP file and made a new one .

We get a Blue light when done on the ESC , but no power to the motor.

Is this a new issue with the FLOW ESC ?

We have loaded others Flow ESC with 3.3.
Scott has installed of his rides with .

But of late no way with my ESC 's or others ...

I need the number for LRP or a rep from Lrp to help us .

Thank you for the tips! :-) I tried different ramps with my 13.5 and I still had to run a lot of boost to achieve the speed and power I was looking for with v3.3. So I reinstalled the older software. With my 6.5 the power delivery was smoother with the software but I had to run boost with a 6.5 to achieve the power with the older version as well. With the boost turned on it of course raised my temp and I don't want to harm my speedo and or motor so I went back to the older software that achieve a the same thing v3.3 does with boost and lower tempo with older SW. I definitely feel that these speed controls are the best on the market hands down. Keep up the awesome work LRP!
