NEW SPEKTRUM SYSTEM

New Spektrum Pro systems are coming! 2.6ms latency times:

http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM1014

Did all you guys out there who can't understand why we feel the Spektrum
system is slower read that? Read it again if you didn't see it the first
time.

"the original system ADDS just 5.6 milliseconds ..."

Xing,

This is why I posted. It reads like a bash to me. If its not your comment then I apologize. Regardless, cheers.

can you buy a new Antenna for the Module that goes in to the 3pk

I need some help here. My Spektrum seems to be glitching frequently. It gets worse if someone else is also running his spektrum. I wonder if this is normal? I though Spektrum is supposed to be glitch free?

have not experienced this and quite often 7 of 10 racers in a heat will be on spektrum. in practice even more..... so i would suggest there is some other issue. been using spektrum for well over a year now and am extremely happy with all the improvements in software over that time. the latest software is incredible for the speed or latency improvement.

you may need the power cap.

i was running Sphere competition with 2 Star Vector in a 1/10 pan car. Funny thing was, my colleague was running his 1/8 with Spektrum as well and both our cars flew outside the track.

Hobby horizon rep asked me to send the units back to them for upgrade. If I send them now, 4 of my cars will be out of action for a month since US and Malaysia is quite far.

how do you guys like the spektrum system, is it worth it?
if i bought one i would be putting it into my m8

I bought a new reciever today for my touring car and had quite a few problems with it. I have a VFS-1 but i have it set to 4.0 volts. Everytime i clipped a board it would lose signal. Yea i know dont hit anything then but right now that is not possible i noticed the antenna wire was toching the top deck and tried to re rout it. The last pack it seemed to be better but i also did not hit as much. Funnny thing is the original reciever that came with the system worked fine in my truck. I am running stock so i cant see needing the cap but i dont know for sure.

They give you your choice of tips, the one to use is "M" with the tip "-". The Spektrum uses the same tip as the JR.

We got this setup for Sharon to put in her new Spektrum. The Shack we went to did not have the 10V in stock so we decided to sub a 12V 1000ma adapter. I checked on the radio after an hour or so, and the handle was cool. I fell asleep and woke about 45-50 minutes later to gunshots. :weird:

Well, not gunshots, the cells melted the handle and one exploded. It shot out of the handle, went through 3 slats of the verticle blinds and ricocheted off of the sliding glass door. Now I was well awake.

I gathered my senses and went to the radio, unplugged the charger and shook the oozing mass of batts and plastic batt holder onto the floor. This little escapade cost about $100 (inc. UPS) for Spektrum to replace the handle.

FYI; my overnight charger for my airplane radio is 10.8V and 55ma

radio schack sell a good kitchen timer 5 bucks shape like a egg.

Merf, the new 3pk module is HRS compatible. From talking to several people the Futaba version will not be a US release, just overseas.

ya right!

Ok, as far as the reduced latency in the Pro series and with the original receivers and modules. Yes the Pro Series equipment is backards compatible with the original modules and receivers. When you use an original unit with a Pro (say a Pro receiver with the original module), your latency will drop down to 4.3 milliseconds. Basically you get 1/2 the latency improvement.

Azimo, I've been at races where the entire heat is fill of Spektrum users. No issues what so ever.

The midway one has lower number.

I have Futaba transmitter and the transmitter module wire is incorrectly routed. I'm not shipping anything in for repairs, it costs about the same to simply buy new set. I wish Horizon would sell me new antenna so I could fix it my self. I'm thinking about using some isolation, maybe aluminum foil and shrink wrap, on the antenna wire to fix, or at least reduce the problem.

get some rf shielding spray from electronic shop .http://www.naturalnano.com/applicati...ing/index.html

I will be in contact with him soon to see how much and if he is willing to sell via the internet.
I will keep you posted.
So far my only advice I can give you is don;t drive your car more than 999 feet from you..LOL
Like there are tracks that big here in SoCal....yea right.

gary

i think i know what the root cause of my problem. I opened up my transmitter's antenna. The end wire was not extended to its maximum length. I remember at one time my antenna cover came out so i put it back in a hurry without carefully putting the end wire back in its white plastic cover. I gotta try it again and see whether this will solve my problem. It was ok for the past 7 months.

RCGaryK 03-12-2006 09:13 AM

Do not let the antenna run over the main PCB....Come down and around the side before you come back up. That should take care of it.
