I guess Trilian will be back on telling new tails with his spectum, Last night in the truck A main his FT T4 shut down several times costing him a top two finish. He was so far gone in the touring car A main it shut down twice and he still won! And in his BJ4 it didn't give him any problems, go figure. I have two systems(one in my wifes car) and have had only one failure. In my FT T4 it wouldn't shut down or steer. At the time I blamed it on the tracks computer system. In my fk-04 I have it mounted on the digital servo with velcro and have no problems. In fact, my antenna wire got cut off about a quarter inch above the reciever and still no problems. I hope this gets resolved soon, hate to see my kid get screwed in a race like last night.

Yes, I think I will post again. As kings kid said I had a horrible night of glitching, or whatever spektrum wants to call it, on friday night. After the races I opened up the module for my m8 and found it goes on top of the board, so I guess I will be sending it in. Do I need to send in my recievers as well? And my telemetry system is giving me all kinds of problems, so that is getting sent in as well. If horrizon fixes everything in a prompt manner, all is forgiven, if however they take their sweet time I will be upset. The irony is that I bought this system so I would not have glitching problems.

Hi all, I just got the Spektrum DX3 system and was wondering if this setup has any of the side effects mentioned in the last few pages (assuming most here are running the spektrum modules)

I haven't installed it yet, but wondering what I might expect.....

All the issues I've read about are with the Module based systems, not the DX3. I've had one for several months now, and it's been trouble free, everything I'd hoped for.

I bought a Ex-10 module lately, but having trouble with the range. the cars stop at arround 70 feet distant depend on places with either the car stop or engage failsave. anyone have the similar problem?

First thing I'd recommend is that you visit the Spektrum site and check out the instructions on determining whether your module antenna is properly wired. Next, take a look at how you are routing the antenna on the receiver. According to their website, it should go vertical almost immediately. I think both of these can affect the range.

That sounds like a good start, considering the aircraft version has two antena. A plane will rotate in 3 demesnions, they had to compensate for that with bi-lateral antena...

Here's a nice little bit of trivia I could have used a couple days ago.

It looks like there are two different lengths of antenna wires inside the TX modules...

I tried to do the XRC "built-in" deal on my M8. It looks pretty easy, I see it done all the time...and the only thing I don't like about Spektrum is the antenna sticking out the back...so I dive right in.

Get all the little holes poked, antenna hole reamed out to fit, all good until I tried to connect the antenna and screw the Spektrum case back together...as I'm twisting it around in vain trying to get enough angle to get the screws tightened...POOF...out comes the antenna wire. I ripped it out of the terminal.

I found a nice rep at Horizon who took pity on me...they're sending me another one in the mail, but it's going to take a few days. I went to Ultimate Hobbies and bought another set to steal the antenna (and get another reciever)...when I got home to fix my radio...the antenna on the one I got today was a good inch longer. WAY easy to install. Mine was one of the first couple batches...never had a hint of trouble.

When I get my replacement antenna, I'm just going to sell the extra TX and maybe a reciever to get some of my moolah back...but at least I can race this weekend.

If anyone wants a good deal on a Futaba/Hitec Spektrum module (SPM1004) in a week or so...just PM me. Never been used...LOL...except as a donor for a week.

Thanks for the advice as I built one of these regulators for my QC2 and Spektrum. Tried it out on the weekend and it was quicker than just the Cap.
Just superglued two together and wired up to an old servo plug and wired into the battery direct and its perfect.
The QC2 is as good as it should have been, the spektrum module (3PK) has the wire under the board as per the web site , ran the Xray T2 first time out and TQ'ed as well. Life couldn't be better

Are you powering the entire reciever and related devices off the 6volt regulated device, or just the servo?

Mine is working good still too. BUt I need to upgrade to a faster servo. My old futaba at .15 is a bit slow for the tight technical track I am running on. Looking at a JRZ9000S. 128oz/in @ .06sec !!

for all spectrum users i just ran a spectrum with a spectrum capacitor with the following items installed

-capacotor and battery on a y lead
-amb PT in a reciever channel
-sanwa VX servo (throttle)
-futaba s 9550 for steering
-VXR 1000mah li ion battery and 5 amp regulator

all worked fine.

i was able to squeeze the regulator battery y lead and capacitor where the battey fits under the chassis a nice clean design,

the regulator had to go on the side of the tank taped up to the battery on a funny angle but it works well and does not shift. required aroudn 10 minutes fiddling to fit and tape everything.

I ALSO SEALED UP THE REGULATOR WITH SILICONE!! VERY IMPORTANT SO FUEL DOES NOT GO INTO IT AND BLOW UP SOMETHING!!
