do you have your tx off when you try to bind it? you're suppose to have the tx off and then place where you want your fail safe to be. then hold the bind button on the tx and then turn it on. then you release the bind button after the led stops flashing.

Any reason why when I turn my car on (only after turning on the Transmitter) does the car go straight to full power for about 3 seconds?

You don't have your failsafe set correctly, go thru binding again and follow the instructions for setting it up properly....

has anyone seen some radios out there that have had the spektrum module modified to use the stock antenna location on the radio. Ive seen pics and shows no exposed wires just a plug where the antenna swivel used to be. It actually looks like the specktrum antenna is mounted in the radio housing.

Anyone used there spektrums in off-road? Are you experiencing any issues with the bumps, jumps, vibration, and dirty these classes bring? :eek:

There is no problem using Spektrum in offroad. I use it in all of my cars that you see in my sig. I have had some pretty bad rolling crashes in my sedans and 12, but not a single problem with my Spektrum.

I have been having good luck with my Spektrum's in my B4/T4...however in my last two races after flipping and being marshalled my motor cut out for a few seconds and then resumed...during this my steering was working fine...however the motor cut out...does anyone think this is an ESC issue (Tekin G10Pro+) or the Spektrum receiver??

Hey guys, thought I'd post my dilema here with the ol' spektrum since I'm having some radio problems. I'm not in the same boat as most of you since I don't run on-road electric. I am however getting some glitches now with my radio system (I run off-road gas mostly). I'm not quite sure just yet if it is the spektrum or not since I have not had time yet to do the lovely process of 'find the radio component causing the problem', but my intuition tells me it is the spektrum system. Here's the case: I run into these wierd glitches with my 1/8 buggy where it appears I just lose signal and my servos lock into place (not fail safe mode) for no apparent reason, then about a second or two later, they'll pop back on as if nothing was wrong. It usually seems to happen during elevation changes or if my car is somewhat obstructed from my view (like behind a jump). If I'm within 20 feet of the car, there are no problems at all. Its almost like I'm sorta having distance problems with the system and I haven't even cut my antennas! I'm running two digi's, futaba 9451 and a Hitec 5945, with a personal transponder and I'm using a Helios. For the first two months I had the spektrum, it worked flawlessly. In fact, it still seems to work reliably in my gas truck and my electric buggy using an LRP 7.1 speedo (I do have to run a cap, but it works). I'll have a glitch with those vehicles every now and then, but they are much more rare. This problem has been bugging me a lot since I don't want to send any eletronics away to be fixed until I know for sure I've found the culprit. Well, it just occured to me that the only car I have a personal in is my 1/8, and I didn't have it for the first two months that I had the spektrum system. It also occured to me that not every track I visit supports personals, so that could also be a reason why I don't see this problem everywhere. I'm wondering if it is possible that the addition of a personal transponder could lower the voltage enough to the receiver to cause a glitch? Has anyone else come accross this problem? If so, is it possible to do the cap fix by using a Y-connector for the personal and cap? Is having 2 digital servos also a problem? I'm not really big into the electrics, so when I have a radio problem, I'm really up a creek without a paddle.... and to think I got this spektrum system so that I would no longer be known as the 'glitchmaster' at my local track. :(
If I have time, tonight I'll play with multiple servos and hook up my old crystal system (I unfortunately can't use crystals with the Helios since I bought the transmitter only for exclusive use with the spektrum)to my buggy to see if I can't pinpoint the problem, but I thought I may be able to save some time by asking all of you. Any other suggestions that I haven't thought of are welcome as well. Thanks in advance to anyone with some ideas.

It's pretty easy to do with the m8. Just have to take the back off the radio, and take apart the rx. The antenna wire on the rx has a clip that clips onto the board so no soldering. But you do have to use an exacto and cut a very small hole in the edge of the rx case where they come together. My buddy took some pics of how to do it I'll see if he'll put a link up. It's nice b/c now I can lay my radio down without worry of hurting the antenna on the module.

tc3blue, thanks for the reply. That is what I originally thought I had to do as well, but remember, I am already using a receiver pack since I'm running a gas vehicle. Voltage shouldn't be a problem. Secondly, today I tried a few more experiments to see what could possibly be causing the problem. By process of elimination, I eventually figured out that it has to be my spektrum causing the problem. I found out that my other vehicles are having the same 'cutting out' problem as well. Seems like it happens if I am roughly 50 ft or so away. Any closer, and I could never get it to glitch, but definitely all three of my cars would have the same effect with the wheels just locking in position, then turning back on 1-3 seconds later. It can't possibly be the servos. I even tried other back up servos and the same result happened. As I was pulling the spektrum unit from my radio tonight I noticed for the first time that it had screws holding it together (I guess I didn't originally notice them since I was too excited to get the unit into my radio :nod: ). I pulled the unit apart, and I noticed how easily the antenna pops off! Does this happen with everyone elses? I also noticed on mine that the circuit board has two different antenna connections. I plugged the antenna into the other un-used connection and noticed that the distance my car would glitch drastically decreased to about 10 feet. The normal antenna connection glitched just like before, roughly 50 feet. Maybe there is a loose connection somewhere? I don't know. I guess I'm sending my unit in to Horizon. Looks like I'll be dealing with their customer service now. :mad:

I would look at your motor first. Probably a hung brush. I've noticed that the B4 leaves the end bell fairly exposed and as a result, I have had bent solder tabs and one crushed brush hood.

I am having a similar problem where I race and I don't use a Spektrum, however my car only started doing this when i started to race against guys who do have spektrums. I normally never get any kind of interferance and I noticed that when I wasn't racing against these spektrum users I wouldn't have any problems.

Recently, another driver started having the EXACT same problem on the EXACT same corner - he runs completely different electronics to me - the only common-link was that he was racing against a spektrum user for the first time! - again the problem disappeared when he wasn't racing aginst spektrum users.

Whilst the Spektrum may transmit on a 2.4ghz frequency range - is there something else that it's sending out that would cause interference for other radios?

I've got a problem with my brand new spektrum system , It doesen't work when my car is going more than 15 ft from me .

My configuration :
Radio System : Sanwa M8
ESC : LRP Quantum 2 and Novak Cyclone TC
Servo : Sanwa WRX and Futaba 9450

I have tried all combination ESC/Servo , and i still have this problem of range .

I didn't cut the antenna wire , i have tried with a capacitor on the receiver and the ESC , with no result .
