would the spektrum work with the new M11?

Hey S-T-R-I-K-E-R! ;)

No it won't. Currently the M8 is the only Sanwa/Airtonics Transmitter the Spektrum module would fit into. I believe the M11 has a few more extra pins in the back as compared to the M8. I guess only time will tell though. If they eventually sell as many M11 Transmitters as M8s.... you can bet Spektrum would make one for it!

Take it easy and see ya at one of the tracks sooner or later! :D

Recent Spektrum Successes

I just got my Spektrum receivers back from horizon... they got them reprogrammed and sent out within 3 days. Not amazing, but not bad either :)

I drove this weekend with the spektrum used in conjunction with my Helios, Quantum Comp 2, and Futaba S9451 servo... no problems, and no need for the external capacitor.

I also drove my sedan with a QC2 and KO 2343 servo, and that seemed to work just fine once I started using a 6.3v 4700 uf capacitor.

Yay!

Equipment
3PK, LRP Q2, KO-2143 servo

Problem reciever power goes off and on, turn the wheel full throw on the 3PK and the steering jerks in the direction that I turned, tested other servos steering problem went away

Equipment
3PK, LRP Q2, Airtronics 94758 servo "Brand new 139 bucks"
:flaming:
steering problem went away but the power goes off and on still:flaming: :flaming: :flaming:  My radio was the last one to come out, so the programming should have not been a issue. Who the compay rep. in this forum?

talk to Horizon and they told me to add the 6.3 volt 4700uf cap.
is this the one that come with the LRP worlds upgrade kit or can I can I hit up radio shack?

spectrum problem(maybe)

I used my spektrum for 3 weeks with a brand new ko helios on a on road nitro 1/10 car. it worked great until the first real race of the season when the failsafe would kick on when the car was 100 yards or so away. i originally thought it was the personal transponder but it is ok. i just found out my jr 8450 servo(i am using it for throttle/ brake) is going bad and it heats up considerably and causes the steering servo to wobble back and forth constantly. would a bad servo cause the failsafe to kick in and is there a way to tell other than putting the dsm back in the car if it has been damaged by the defective servo?
thanks for any help.

Yes a damaged servo could make the fail safe go off if it causes interferance. I would start with trying another servo and then run the car and see what happens.

also when a servo is bad the power drain can be significant which could cause a momentary drop in power to the tranceiver - this would make the spektrum drop into fail safe mode also.

spektrum

Rocketron,
that is exactly what i was thinking because the servo was very hot after being on for just a few minutes. i bet it drained the battery too fast and kicked it on. that would be great if that is all that it is, although an 8450 or that new 8008 ain't cheap to replace it.
cheaper than a spektrum but not by a lot,

Boomer 05-17-2005 08:24 AM

But if your servo is going bad, you're going to have to replace it sometime. . .better sooner than after it fails during a race going down the straight at full throttle - and into the wall. . . :D

Generally, as motors and electronics get hot, they do draw more power and the Spektrum is more sensitive to low power conditions than are the "passive" receivers we've been using forever.

Which makes sense - we've got a small processor in there which is why we can all turn on our Spek's without killing each other! :D

Did you reset your Q2 after installing the Spektrum? I have had to do it each time AFTER installing the Spektrum. No more power problems after that. Matt Francis told me about it.

Anyone know if I should have my KO Helios set to High Response on the radio's switch hidden under the plug-in Spektrum transmitter module?

Thanks.

theisgroup 05-17-2005 10:25 PM

that is how I have been running mine and it has been in that mode for about 1 month with no problems.

What servo are you using?

Yep that's how I've been running mine as well ...I have a KO 2343 Digital Servo and a KO VFS1 Speedo.

theisgroup 05-18-2005 05:05 AM

on my 12th ko949ics and on my xray ko2143
