I've recently had TWO great customer service experiences with Horizon/Spektrum, both of which were caused by user error (my fault). Both were taken care of promptly and with minimal delay.
Horizon/Spektrum and Novak are, without doubt, the two customer service champions of the RC world!! |
IVE TRIED EVERYTHING> im running a DX3 with SR3000 in a JRXS with a novak 5.5R system. I have binded it about 20 times while holding brakes etc. But whenever i turn on the car, even if transmitter is on or off the car goes full throttle for about 3 seconds until signal is found. Answers?

I use to use Spektrum all the time. Went to another radio system and didn't use the Spektrum. Now I have gone back and have nothing but problems with the car going into failsafe 2 to 4 times a lap. It seems not to like the Mamba speedo (running in brushed mode). I tried the cap and a receiver pack and it don't help. I have talked with a few others that have this same problem when running with some brushless type speedos.
I'm using the Pro system in my R-1. I have tried 3 different receivers and put my non pro module in and all of them do the same. |

New Radio Coming...Check Horizon's Website. Its DSM2 like the DX7 Aircraft Radio. That means no module, its direct conversion from you fingers to Spread Spectrum.
The radios with modules take the analog PPM signal and convert it to FM or DSM. The new Spectrum DX3R encodes from a high speed serial conection direct from the processor and has faster latency than ANYTHING else on the market. http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...PM3100-450.jpg |
This radio hasn't been released yet. Horizon Hobbies is projecting an early August date.

2 Questions:
1) I have a Futaba 3PM 2.4ghz Spektrum radio and it comes with a Futaba 603FF receiver...what's the difference between the Futaba FAST 603FF receiver that comes with the Spektrum 3PM, vs the 603FS receiver? They look the same and would like to know if one is faster than the other? Will my 603FF perform just as fast as the FS version? 2) Is the Futaba 3PM F.A.S.T. radio with R603FF receiver, just as Fast and reliable as a 3PK Super with FAST module and R603FS receiver? I want to race with the 3PM FAST radio and 603FF Fast receiver and hope to have equipment that's just as fast as the drivers running their 3PKS w/ FAST module and 603FS receivers...will my equipment be on par with them? Or will the 3PKS be slightly faster due to the 3PKS having a faster processor than the 3PM 2.4ghz processor, if that has anything to do with it? |
Im thinking of getting a Futaba 3PKS with the Spektrum PRO HRS module for it. However, I dont know which receiver to get...the SR3000HRS receiver or the micro receiver. I want the fastest combo for my 3PKS on HRS mode, and that's why I'll need the HRS module, but I dont know if the micro receiver is compatible with the Spektrum 3PKS HRS module or not? If it is, which combo will be the faster one: the HRS module and the SR3000HRS pro receiver for the 3PKS in HRS mode, or the SR3000HRS module with the Spektrum micro?

You've probly fiqured out ur problem by now, but I had the same thing happen to me. I am using a M11 with a Novak GTB 10.5 brushless combo. I initial redirected the antenna to exit the side of the receiver, with that done I couldn't bind the TX and RX for nothing. Switch the antenna to exit thru the top of the reciever and binded right away. Now I hope it doesn't act weird on me at the track this weekend. Just love the fact that I can run at any time w/ out looking for my frequency! |
Hi,
A little help on a Spektrum problem. Setup is an original module in a modded KO Vantage, and a Micro receiver. Radio is Hara Twister ESC, Futaba 9550 servo in a TOP Scythe Chassis. The receiver has been cutting out (into failsafe mode I assume) intermittently. It seems to be connected with high-drain periods, ie full power from a standstill. I have rebound the system with no effect. HOWEVER - unplugging the AMB personal transponder seemed to stop the problem (for the 5 or so minutes I was testing on the bench). I have now replugged it and it still seems OK after a few more minutes bench testing. So, question is... 1) Anyone had any known problems with the AMB PT? 2) Could a poor connection in the AMB plug cause problems in the receiver? 3) Would the Spektrum Cap be a good precaution in this case (I thought the Micro receiver would not need one?) Thanks for any help. |
I've got the same problem. Never thot the Amb transponder could cause the prob. Have a couple, will try switching those out the next time I go to the track. The only car I have the prob in has a LRP Quantom 2. Thot that might be the source

I just installed the worlds option kit in my ESC. no need for rx cap etc. BUT.. i also encountered the DSM rx shutdown during full throttle with my KO hara2.1 esc when i ran mod and 19t before.. i tried to adjust the power save settings from 2.3v to 4.0v and the rx cap option, and it didnt solved it. Found out that my packs cant supply the right voltage for the RX when my mod/19t motors pulls at full throttle. so i tried new packs and voila problem solved |
If your receiver is going into failsafe under brief high drain then the capacitor may help as its purpose is to supply the receiver with needed voltage during high drain periods that lower the BEC voltage.
Question on Binding the small receiver. I have a question on binding the small pro receiver. I think this was explained on an addendum sheet and not included with my manual. I put in the little jumper plug, turn on the car, Turn on the radio with button pushed and brakes applied. Am I supposed to get a green light at the receiver. I do not. Am I missing a little piece of the procedure. I never get a good failsafe brakes applied. I get the full throttle madness that is noted in a post above. I am able to bind my old full size Spektrum receiver with a good failsafe in the same car. Might this small receiver be broken? OK I found my addendum sheet. The loop plug must go into the port labeled B. The amber light will flash. It will go steady when binding is complete. I'll report here if I have any luck with the failsafe. Success. You just have to use port B with the jumper. I tried two other ports. Maybe the procedure will help someone else. Hold some brake while binding. |
