hey guys,
having a small heatng issue with my truck (Kyosho RT50, i took the speedo/motor of my buggy where they used to run at 57-65C after 10 minutes. the speedo is a speed passion 2.0GT pro and the motor is a LRP 8.5 octawind. on the truck they run super hot, around 70C after 2 minutes, 80C after 5 and over 95C after 6 minutes!!! 82 spur and 21 pinion. so i said the motor is old and changed to a used 7.5 with a 20 teeth pinion, same problem!!! i recieved my brand new LRP 6.5 octawind 2 days ago and i installed it yesterday with a 19 teeth pinion. same problem!!! the temp tend to raise more with my 65C packs, when i run the 20C packs, it gets hot but not blazing hot!!! i stopped because i dont want to crisp my new motor. is my speedo bad?? sometimes, i loose torque and top-end, but when i switch the speedo off and on again, it immedietly becomes normal!! the temp issue is only with the motor, the speedo is running around 48C i redid my wiring, rewired the capacitor and checked everything, everything looks normal any help is appreciated. cheers Ali |
Check bearings in drivetrain/ axles ar not binding or bad. Tires should spin freely..
Pinion gear/spur mesh too tight? You running 205 mod? Check physical timing on motor...to high? If so back it down. |
All good advice. Also, might check your gear ratio. Don't know what buggy you're running, but typically when you switch from buggy to truck you need to run lower gearing to compensate for the extra weight of the truck and the bigger tires. If you're running the same gearing in truck you ran in buggy, I'd expect it to run hotter. The fact that tthe speedo is working and staying cool, but all 3 motors are getting hot, tells you the problem is either gearing ir something wrong with the truck.

will the Silver Arrow V2.0 Brushless Motor - 5.5R in combination with the hobbywing 120A v2.1 speedo be a good combination for in my team associated sc10 4x4 short course truck ?

in an sc10 4x4 you should get the gt2.0 combo with the 4000kv citrix slotless motor.

When can we expect the new 1/8th esc to hit the market?

Have a tech question.. Using the LPF in my 2wd buggy with a 7.5 and 205c software. Gearing is slightly under recommended. After 5mins it's coming off with flashing green light and half power. Motor is temping under 150*... Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks, Rob......... |

Thanks, Rob......... Straight from the manual. 2.10. Over-Heat Protection: If the function is activated, the output power will be cut-off when the temperature of the ESC or the internal temperature of the motor is up to 95ēC for more than 5 seconds. When the protection happens, the Green LED will light. When the ESC is over-heated: The Green LED flashes as ☆----☆----☆----. When the motor is over-heated: The Green LED flashes as ☆-☆----☆-☆----☆-☆----. Note: The over-heat protection function for the motor may not be 100% accurate for motors other than Speed Passion brand. |

This maybe a possibility.
