I honestly think you're gonna want to run a fan regardless, unless you're running a high dollar esc that doesn't get hot.
From my experience, I think you should get as much motor and esc as you can afford, or want to spend.
I used a 10.5 motor with a ReventonR at the local dirt track in my 2wd 1/10 buggy. I used an 8.5 motor in my 4wd 1/10 buggy with a GT2.0 Pro esc. Both of these cars were pretty darn fast at the track and ran great w/o overheating.
I've sold all that and currently just have a new 2wd 1/10 buggy and I've learned that my new favorite thing to do is drag racing friends on a smooth street. I have a 5.5 motor and decent esc but I'm buying a GT2.0 Pro esc so I can run it hard w/o getting hot and it has the ability to use a 3.5 motor.

Has anyone tried the 1/8 Speed Passion Blaze 2100kv? I know they are rated at 4s but everyone I talk to says they handle 6s just fine in a truggy or buggy.

Is it fair to say the reventon pros don't seem mod friendly? Currently running 6.5t 4wd mod buggy indoor. There seems to be a lot of issues I've not seen in the last pages from other brands. Maybe I should stick with my old hobby wing... Just wanted to try something different but didn't want to spend something half the price of my buggy.

Why do you say they're not mod friendly?

I understand your point. Having bought 2 in the last 4 months, a Reventon S and a Reventon Stock Club here is my feedback.

Both work as advertised and the PC programming software works just fine if you install the correct drivers. I even got it to work with Windows 10. No issues. So far I haven't had any complaints. I recently acquired a 1/8th buggy and while looking for an ESC I looked in their direction only to find that while they may have once had a presence in that area they no longer seem to be supporting that line and what they did have in 1/8 came across as leftovers. As a whole it seems their product line/presence is shrinking but that is my observation and may be far from the truth.

It's disappointing to think they've let their customer service fall so far. As a fan of their products I hope they can pull it together.

I have two of them that I run in mod with the hybrid boost and they perform flawlessly. I consistently get comments about how fast my trucks are with just 10.5 and 13.5 motors. I have also used one in a 4wd buggy with a 7.5 motor and it ripped!

I like their stuff, but a year after giving them money, I can't get them to send me what they owe me.

ok bit the bullet and got a pro 1.1. Will update how it compares to my HW 2.1.

Reventon Pro 1.1 are more than capable of running low turn mods :)

Yeah, I think the biggest complaints people have had are the support and the lack of new product. All of my SP ESC's are setup for mod and they work great.

Superb for mod, hybrid boost is great.

They need to renew the android app in Google Play tho!

Good to hear, my gripes with the reventon is the sensor cable is placed under the wire connections. I wire my connections under my centre brace so if the sensor pops out it would be a nightmare to pop it back in (but all modern ESC's are like this now). Can't wait to test it out. Just set it to Stock1 firmware to use the hybrid boost.
