Just seems like everytime the guys in R&D catch up with trends we just ask for MORE! Its a vicious cycle (but fun).

after reading about the rev R and 4 poles.. i remember a suggestion to running normal 540 motors for 4wd sc. whats they info there? or should i go with a 4pole in the normal mod mode that been discussed?

You CAN run a 540 in a 4wd SCT however most people dont due to the weight of the trucks and the fact that the 4poles just have so much more power. I ran a 540 in my durango to try it back when i first got it and it was driveable but the punch out of the turns with 4wd is my favorite part so out it came. On heavier 4wd SCT's like the losi you would really want to watch the motor temps after your runs and see where its at. IMHO i would just say skip the 540 and get a 550 or a 4pole.

I am not sure how familiar you are with the class, but this is NOT what people do in 4 Pole 540 motor usage as far as boost goes, assuming by boost you mean timing throughout the RPM range. The big player in 4 Pole motors at this time, Tekin with there Pro4s, advises its owners NOT to use timing etc on the motors in this fashion that you were testing.
There are those who use TURBO like I did, but the extra timing you add is extremely minimal, like 5 degrees if that and even there, its something I don't think Tekin even recommends. The motors do not like lots of timing. If the guys from SP were testing the motors in the same manner as they were used to with 2 Pole 550s, I can see why there were issues.
Again, most people do not use 4 pole motors with boost software at all as it is not recommended by Tekin who currently is the major player here with there RX8 that is common for the class.
However, isn't this the same thing you are doing when you tell people NOT to use certain software with certain motors 1/10 540 motors? Isn't there software out now that you are not supposed to use with motors that are say below a certain turn in mod or stock? Its really not different than that at all.
Which leads me to wonder this: What exactly is inherently different in running a SP GT2.0 Pro ESC with a Pro4 motor (like I personally do) with software that has the various timing levels turned off (I did this with the 323 and 428 stock software, now, just use the 428 mod software or blinky) versus the same with the Reventon Pro on a Mod software or blinky setting? Is there timing or something built into the software that you actually don't control for the stock software versus the mod one?
I personally wouldn't mind buying one of these Reventon Pro's, but want it to still have a valid warranty when used in an acceptable manner. Why the ESC can't do what the recommended GT2.0 Pro does with the same kind of software limitations (Mod, blinky) is just odd to me I guess.
As a side question, When can we expect to see something more concrete on the 2 Pole 550 Blaze? Are there any plans to look further into a 4 Pole 540 or even 550 version?

Overall....after we have been tested, we all know that our Reventon PRO ESC does not last (it will work for a short period of time) when running the 4 poles motor with BOOST/TURBO only software. But because of that....due to the LIABILITY reason, we have to call it out, the ESC is not compatable with the 4 poles motor. It is simply because, we cannot explain to every single user that our ESC can only work with 4 poles motor IF you are not running BOOST supercharger software...it will work with blinky but not STOCK1....it is just way too much work for me and our driver to tell everyone...and we can simply tell them to use the GT2 PRO ESC and we are hooping in the future, we can have the REVENTON PRO to work with 4 poles motor even we are running the boost software with full boost and supercharger in 3 cells...
But until that time....we are simply saying it wlll NOT work with 4 pole motor.

Again, it is NOT about 4 poles and 2 poles...it is about what software you are using. If you are running static timing software like the Mod0 Mod1 Mod2...you can use any motor in the market without problem, 2 or 4 poles. We just have the problem when running BOOST software with 4 poles motor, for some reason, it just won't work....

I have to say, in 4x4 SCT a lot of it appears to be about the motor itself as far as how much torque they make. The main benefits the 540 4 poles offer over the 550s that we have been seeing is initial torque. Considering how fat the rotors are, I can see why.
Heck, if that is the only issue the Reventon pro was having was trying to use boost software on a 540 then I will have to give it a look. I have been staying away from the ESC mainly because of that reason alone!
