Allright, been wanting to try a new ESC and couldn't bring myself to pay for the Orion, so I just bought 2 Reventon Pro's along with a new Sportsman 6.5R. Anything I need to know before hooking them up? Do I need to start with firmware upgrades, etc, or are they good to go out of the box? They will both be going into 2WD mod buggies (me and my son) and if all goes well I may buy 2 more for our 4WD mod buggies.
If you want the most current firmware and support then doing the updates is recommended. Also remember if you are connecting to your PC/computer for programming the car battery should NOT be plugged in. |
Hi, I've submitted a motor through the RMA process on the speedpassion website. I'm about to submit another one for an ESC. Is there a section on the website that allows for tracking the RMA process?
Thanks! |

Do you know the separate weights for the cap and switch? So I may try to balance out the receiver. Thanks, Switch: 5g |
How are the Reveton Pros holding up? Many failures I'm looking into running one as back when I ran 1/8 I loved there silver arrow 2.0, and was very smooth

The Professional LCD programmer for the Silver Arrow and GT series will work with what ESC's? Orion? Hobbywing?
Let me know. I have a new one in the box and am trying to sell it and want to open it up to the Orion guys and Hobbywing guys. Thanks |
[QUOTE=vr6cj;11642086]This doesnt work at all. The esc is bricked basically after a "Failed update." The reventon software nor the reventon lcd recongize "see" the esc. Once you plug up a battery to the esc and turn it on, it'll just have a solid yellow light. It will turn off once you hook it up to a lcd programmer or reciever. It'll actully make a low toned beep once you do this too.
I've tried everything to get it to work that I can think off. Re-installed the latest software on two different pc's and a netbook. Everything works fine but the esc. Now mind you I own two other reventon pros and they work fine and update fine.. |
Which setup have you guys found to be the smothest throttle setting for the revention
thanks |

Can anyone answer this for me?
- Flashed with the right software, it may be compatible with hobbywing stuff - Flashed with the right sofware, it may be compatible as far as hooking up to a PC with orion stuff NOTE: this is from what I have heard. You are own your own as far as trying it and any issues you may encounter nor is it endorsed by Speed Passion, etc. As a side note in reverse based on my personal experiences, I flashed the hobbywing card with the right software, I use it with my SP GT2.X and Silver arrow gear with no issues. I actually like the card better than the newer ones as it feels more robust. Did some running with my SP gear. I got a GT2.1 Pro Stock in a 2wd B4.1 buggy with an 8.5 V3.0 competition motor. It felt very smooth, though, about midway through the run it wasn't quite as punchy as it was before. Its possible it was the battery or maybe the slipper and diff settings seating a bit more. But temps were great, heck motor was almost cool to the touch and the ESC didn't miss a beat. very smooth. I also ran my Silver Arrow V2 (thanks MattP!) in my Tekno EB48 for a few runs before the spur gear went caput, man, talk about power and punch. highly impressed. It just fits inside the Tekno chassis with a slight mod to the mud guard. I hope the new Reventon 8 or whatever its called takes a hard look at what the new Viper ESC looks like and mirrors it as far as how the wires come in to the speed control. Better yet, have EVERY wire as something that is plug and play instead of into the board. And come from a top down perspective so you get more effective room on the ESC. You could darn near keep the SAV2 the same size, do a top in wire configuration along with no separate on/off wire and have the perfect ESC. Lastly, please look into making the REV8 as I will call it compatible from 2S up to 4S at a minimum, and any pole compatible like the RX8 and new Viper ESC is. this would be a big selling factor for guys running 4x4 SCTs and 1/8 electrics, as well as waterproof. Could standardize on just 1 ESC for those types. |
