My apologies for your confusion. Please let us know if there's anything we can do for you.

Well, make a small footprint ESC like the 10r that doesn't need a bulky fan that will run both sensored and non sensored. As someone mentioned, failures with sensor wires and with motor sensors can happen. Both have happened to me. I like that fact that my hobbywing will seamlessly switch to non sensored if the sensor or wire fails mid race. If they could package it in a smaller case and not need a fan I wouldn't want anything else, so if you guys can do it I'll buy yours.

I think you misjudged just how many of us in off road racing are running non sensored motors, particularly in 4x4 short course. The 4 pole motors are far superior in performance and efficiency for the heavy short course trucks. Tenth scale buggy (both two and four wheel drive) and stadium truck are dead in my area. Those are the classes that I would imagine would prefer sensored, but as I said, those classes dont even really exist around here any more.

You guys BOTH need to plan on the Spring Championship at the Barn on May 7!!!! Should be a good race and another opportunity for those of us from all over the State to get together and race!! PLUS, no rain outs or dirty cars!!!!!

I have put the user manuals for the Pro Gauge and VTX series ESCs on my site. You can download them here:

Craig - are you going to add Viper to the gearing guide?

CraigV 04-27-2011 07:01 AM

Absolutely. I'm just waiting for some more feedback on what people are using. Weylin is also gathering some info on this as well.

I will post back here when I get some listed on my site.

Viper copied LRP, haha. No offense to Viper, but don't be shooting down Lrp with unclear facts. X12's came out wayyyy before Viper.

We worked very hard to design and manufacture our high copper volume, ultra low resistance circuit board design that is used on both our esc's and motors. The shape of tabs is just a basic shape. Are you guys going to start saying everyone out there with full holes for their solder tabs copied Novak's original BL system? C'mon now...

Viper would like to congratulate and thank Joe S. from Eastern Washington for his submission for our esc naming contest. We have followed through and rewarded Joe with his requested VTX10R and VST 6.5! Congratulations, Joe :) We hope you enjoy it!

The mamba max pro is right up your ally then. Not as big as the hobbywing, can run up to 6S. Castle makes some great 4 pole sensorless motors. And for 4x4 SC and 2S can probably run fanless without issue.

oh i will :D, wish i had the time to get it all setup to run in wenatchee, my plate is too full right now anyway getting prepared lol

This really isn't the right spot to discuss this, but just as a general note if the esc requires a fan to run 4s in a 1/8 then it will definitely need the fan when running 2s in a 4wd sct. Lower voltage means higher current draw.
