The VTX10 is rated to 5.5 turns, the VTX10R is unlimited. I would run the VTX10R for a 550 motor.
This is close to correct. The specifications state that the VTX10 has a motor limit of 540/6.5t. The VTX10R has a specification of 550/ no limit. The 10R is the esc that would fit your power requirements. Trying to use a VTX10 with a 550 might void the warranty

Got my second VTX10 the other day. This one is going into my 4wd. I had minor surgery Wed,as soon as I feel up to it I will get it wired up and post pics on my 2wd and 4wd. Both with VTX10 and 13.5 for indoor. Prob going to run a 10.5 in the 2wd and an 8.5 in the 4wd for outdoor.
I will be picking up a 10R for my SC very soon. Hopefully I can get my hands on a Viper 550 **hint hint**

Wish I could have received another vtx. I would not be going 2.5hrs for only one class. Oh well, Guess that means I need to be faster.
This stuff is great though there will be no disappointments even with the delay so everyone get those preorders in!

Dealing with the extremely limited supply of esc's has been rather difficult and I'm so ready to have a good supply soon
We are looking up indeed!

Pretty sure no motor limit means unlimited...? Kinda confused as to how I was "close to correct"
"close to correct'', you had the vtx10r motor limit correct. However you stated that the motor limit on the vtx10 is 5.5t when in fact it is 6.5t. As for the no motor limit/unlimited thing, I only typed what is printed in the manual. No need to get stuck on words. This is the BEST E.S.C. I have ever used. period.
