Take your time and enjoy - remember, they are options - not required to change everything to go fast. Its just for time tuning. Lee Martin's set up at the World's last year was basically stock Profile 2 - just the brake settings were different -- so you don't have to "over engineer" yourself.

The waterproofing to me personally was one of the factors that lead me towards your ESC, mainly due to how they water out here at times but I can see the other side of things too.

need to sit down with it and get used to all the features, so much there that until I delv into it more kind of get lost lol. But I love having the options for sure.

Same here. When the track was built whoever was using the laser guides for the drainage pipes was an idiot and now we have standing water near the track area. Didn't want to worry about losing race quality electronics because I left the track this one time or because of all the water still in the clay during the first month after the snow melt - legit concern in my truck but not neatly tucked away in my buggy.

yeah, that is kind of what drew me back towards 1/10 2wd buggy. Back in the day when Team Academy was still going I had a nice converted mid motor SCT based on there GV2T platform. Thing was a beast, the FRP (yes, FRP) chassis really helped on the loose stuff. But the problem always came when they watered the track and now you had mud flinging inside the vehicle all over everything and it being pretty wet, was always worried about that. And the vehicle had no option for an inner body tray.

I figure now, I got rid of the middle man by running a buggy as far as worrying about an inner body tray lol.

Any recent reports on the new VF4 motors?

VF4's have been getting great reviews from those using them -- from one of our team drivers on FB:

Another great outing with the 4WD... TQ and Win with the VTX8 and VF4.... This setup is unreal!! Thank you Viper for the support! Definitely catching notice up here in the Northeast... Was also able to help out 2 newer racers with their VTX8's today and both were very very pleased. Should be a great summer with this one for sure.

A64 - Profile 5 - Brake @ 80% - Brake Freq 16000 - Linear Curve - Drag Brake 5% - Throttle Freq 12000 - Throttle Punch 75% - Dead Band Middle - Run Mode Race Blinky - Motor Dir Normal - SBEC 6.5 - Forward Power 100% - Auto Off Disabled - Battery Cutoff 6.0V - ESC and Motor Temps disabled - 41 MIP Spur - 12T Pinion - SMC 7200 70C with Traxxas.

Fairly large track, loose low grip dusty conditions with decent size jumps. Temps 134-141 after 7 mins with fan installed on motor.

Fan is one of our new high voltage fans - they come in 25mm, 30mm and 40mm sizes.

Not required for the motor, but not a bad idea for any 4wd SC motor

Fingers crossed for some good racing luck at AMS 5.0. Looks like VTX8's in both Open and Sportsman EBuggy top 10's after Round 1.

be curious on some comparisons to the HW motor as well as its kind of a 545ish motor.

I have been running my VTX8 since last fall, yesterday i updated it to the new soft wear re re calibrated it to my radio pr the instructions.... Now my motor does to turn. I turn it the esc on and it links up to my radio you can see the lights going normally, blinking while on throttle and on solid for full throttle same as for the brakes!!! I do not hear the audible chimes on start up. Additionally i have hooked up the motor to another VTX8 and do hear the chimes and tested the motor, it operates as designed!!

Did the update mess with something?? Thanx in advance....

Hi guys. I just got my viper copperhead esc and vx4.39 I wired it all up and it doesn't make the calibration tone or turn off on its own, you have to unplug the battery. I have wired in my brothers copperhead esc and it works fine. does anyone know what the issue could be?

did you try recalibrating the radio? If it can't find neutral it won't let you turn it off.

Thanks

turn your radio on first

press and hold the red power button on the V-PORT for three seconds. (Followed by beep tone from the motor, F/N LED on the V-PORT

Pull full throttle and hold, while holding press the red power button once.

Push full brake and hold, while holding press the red power button once. Followed by beep tone, all LED’s will cycle.

Calibration completed!
If the radio was not able to be calibrated successfully, the LEDs on the V-PORT will be all flashing. Please try to adjust the throttle trim on your ransmitter (+/-10% a step) and run the calibration process again. Every radio system has different factory default signal, it important to make the Copperhead ESC to read proper radio endpoint signal for optimized performance
