The VUF file is the file for the esc itself, once you open the pclink software, you will connect the USB cable to the esc, then select PORT 0 USB. Then click FILE and it will ask you where the VUF file is at.

After you have the port set, the file set, you will plug a battery into the esc, turn on your radio, then turn on the esc. You will then set the esc in link mode, and you should see on the PC the old firmware. You can now click DOWNLOAD and begin the update.

When its complete, the esc will cycle and chime, then you can unplug and you are now updated.

Fyi - remember that you will loose your old settings, so you need to reset your temp settings for your profiles.

Thank you very much. I think I need to find the actual pclink software on the website first.

I've been using the VTX10R for my buggy and finally just invested in the ProGauge. That's working fine, but then I learn that in order to do a FW update, I need the PC Link cable. Argh! Is it just me, or is it disappointing that the ProGauge didn't come with PC Link functionality? Why do we have to buy yet another $30 accessory that's rarely or one-time used?

Anyone have a PC Link cable to sell (or borrow or rent)? I guess I could try and find someone at WCRC that has one, but I don't go there too often.

Anyone else annoyed by this?

Why didn't you get the speedo with the Guage and save a few bucks that way. If you dont want to spend $30 on the link you can just send your speedo in and viper can update it for you.

If you bought your system new in the last 4 - 5 months, it has the latest software. No need to update.

I tried my VTX10R in my SC10 today for the first time. I ran it with a Ballistic 13.5 motor and very conservative boost numbers. I couldn't get more than 3 laps at a time done because it would randomly shut down after taking even the smallest jumps. I can't figure out what the problem is. Just the ESC would shut down, I'd still have steering. If I turned it on and off again it would go another 2 or 3 laps and then shut down. It's not a heat issue as everything was still cool.

What can I do about this? Could it be a simple adjustment with the progauge?

Replace your sensor wire to start. Also, Ballistic motors have issues with the sensor board shorting out on the case if the end bell was over torqued. That problem also shows its self after impact.

I'll try a new sensor wire and motor and get back to you. Unfortunately I won't be able to track test them for a few weeks.

I have the Airtronics MT-4 with the RX 461 receiver. Do I have to bind step by step in the instructions or can I use the bind feature in my radio?

Hpifanboi 05-12-2012 04:51 PM

Something went wrong and I think the ESC is dead. I was about calibrate the ESC with the radio.

First thing I did is followed the instructions on updating the firmware to A30 from previous page post and everything went very smooth.

Second... I tried calibrating the ESC to my MT 4 radio with bind feature in the radio. After it binded the motor started going and held throttle to stop it. I unplugged the battery to stop everything.

Third... I posted about using the instructions.

Fourth... In a hurry for racing and proceeded to follow step by step binding radio via viper instructions. When radio was turned on. Followed the second step to hold red button for 3 seconds and heard a snap. No lights on the ESC anymore. Checked the car and noticed the A wire to motor A slot popped off. Resoildered it on and still nothing.

Is there anything else I can do this before call customer service Monday?

Ran my Viper system for the first time today and had a little problem. When I am full throttle, I have no steering. Is this the "brown out" I have heard about? I am just using a cheap old servo temporarily. Will a Glitch buster help?

with the reedy shorty battery I noticed it would glitch my jr 8800s when turning and using a lot of power. I will throw on a cap and I will order the cap viper makes to solder on.

I can't believe how much better I run without a mod motor. I just went back to my 13.5 motor and my lap times are really good.

Viper motor and esc ran great all day.
