1. I have been running a 4.5t Ballistic 550 in my SCTE. I run on a larger outdoor and small indoor track. Which Copperhead system would be closest to my 4.5t?

2. When will they be available?

Thanks

I to run on a large indoor track 160' by 70' which is a 1/8th scale designed track. I would definitely go with the 5150Kv...

Dave,
Can you tell me what gearing you use on the xxx-sct. I will be running this system in my scb and be running at Loosenut's and Jerry's. Two different tracks in size and style, but don't want to change anything. I just want to plug and play.

Thanks,
Casey

I was out running some laps today and my esc turned off 2 times while I was running. I have a vtx10r with a 4.5 550 viper motor. Everything is hooked up right I don't know what it could be.

By chance did you check your temps on the motor and esc ? Also what is your temp cut off on progauge

After a 8 min run my esc will be about 120 and motor will be about 145. My esc cutoff is at 220 and no motor cut off.

I was running 86/19T at FTR, might be able to get away with a 20T at Loosenuts (much more open layouts), but Jerry's would be allot like FTR indoor. I was still having to run with the EPA at about 90% with the 19T. The 3900 performs quite well.

Went through the thread trying to find it, and had no luck

Those of of you with a SC10 running a 17.5T
what is your gearing at?

Our track changed and both my Buggy and SC10 are having a hard time with it.

Current gearing
Buggy 17.5T 34/75 blinky mode. full can timing 45deg
SC10 13.5T 22/84 Blinky mode 35deg can timing

I am switching the motors out tonight
So new setup will be
Buggy 13.5T
SC10 17.5T

SO for the new setup what gearing are you guys running?

I'm looking for a esc/motor for my new FT sc104x4. Have been thru lots of threads, and heard varying opinions on what to run. I am down to 3,,,LRP SXX,Tekin, and Viper.

What are some opinions on the Viper 10R? How does it stack up against the LRP and the Tekin? What motors are y'all usin?

I will be running on 2 totally different tracks. One is a tight technical loose track with only 2 jumps. The other is a hard pack flowing 1/8 scale kinda track.

Can you try raising the Throttle freq to the highest setting 16,000 hZ this can be a solution to your setup drawing to much power when on the throttle. Also make sure your sensor wire is plugged in securely

I run a VTX10r in my SC104x4. I don't run a viper motor at this time. My combo is the VTX10r paired with a novak ballistic 6.5 turn 540 motor with a 14mm rotor. This combo for my track has more then enough punch (I'm dialed down to 80%). I've wanted to try the 550L motor, I just have not because what I have is smooth fast and cool. I have my ESC protection set to 200° and have never hit it. I'd look into a 550 motor because your talking about a larger track. The 540 motor would be plenty for your small track.

Make sure you buy the 550l motor, not the 550xl for your sc104x4. Viper makes 2 550 motors, one (550l) was built for the sc104x4

I really wish there was a Viper sponsored guy in Denver so I could see some other products. It would be nice to bounce ideas off another guy in person. As it stands now, I seem to be the only guy running viper stuff.

Brent I was running 33/75 with my SC10 (17.5 Blinky)(RevTech)

I just updated my VTX10 firmware to A30, Process was real easy, PCLink was well worth the $$, I am curious to how it runs. Anyone have a 17.5 setup for the A30 firmware? I have been using SMYKA's setup (page 210/post 3144), I like it alot but just checking to see if someone has anything else that they found is working.

nikos2002 03-22-2012 09:23 PM

At the SC Showdown event last weekend Mike TQ'd running 78/30. I ran 75/29.

For motor in the SC10 4x4, I ran the VST5.0L with a VTX10R. Geared 62/14. And the punch was turned down to 35%. This was on a tight indoor track. If I was going to a larger outdoor track, I still have room to gear up (or smaller spur), plus power up on the ESC. Power delivery is very smooth, put still plenty of rip off the corners and down the straight.

thefatkid - feel freel to bounce ideas off of all of us here or at the Viper website forum. We would be glad to help.

Like a lot of other set up advise just use that as a starting point. Practice with changing one thing at a time to see what you like. I have drivers that tell me they use completely different set ups at different tracks. Mark's set up should put you in the ball park a majority of the time and it can be adjusted from there.

Billy was looking good in practice last night at Cactus!!! Good luck to him and the other Viper drivers out in the AZ sun!!
