rider - I think he is in a blinky only class.

Autocratic - I would back off the timing on the car a little - try 35º-40º. Also lower Throttle Freq. - 4000-6000. Mark Smyka posted his set up a few pages back. We have had a lot of success with that set up and keeping the settings close to it here in the NE at a bunch of different 17.5 events and Mark just finished 3rd the J Concepts Clash with it. We also have Bryan Eady's ROAR Stock winning set up on the forum at the Viper website.

Is there a way to tell what Firmware I'm currently on? Is there a difference between the A19 & A30 on the website?

Het guys I will be buying the vtx combo with a 17.5 next week and I noticed that it says you need a link to update the esc firmware. Where can I find one at? I looked on amain but couldn't find anything.

There's a USB cable you need.

Calibrate my esc

Hi

I bought a new to me VTX10, with usb cable and No progauge. I update the firmware to the A30 which I think is latest. I was trying to do the calibration to my radio, but hit a road block. I am using a 4pk verified epa 100% and trims are fine. I did check out the facebook info on setting up the esc but I dont have a proguage to verify the voltage outs.

This is what happens, I hold the button for 3 secs and the two light blink green. I hold my throttle and try pressing the button for one sec. Some times I can press the button but nothing happens, other times it just starts flashing. Each time it sets my reverse as forwards.
I did read somewhere to set my throttle end point to max. I have not tried that yet. I also read reversing the servo. Tried that but it did not work. I do have a pro guage coming in a week or so.

Any idea would be appreciated. I going to try it again, maybe it was a little late and I missed something.,

Try this step for step.

Turn on your transmitter.
Press and hold the ESC power button for three seconds.
You will hear a beep tone. and see the F/N lights lit.
Pull full throttle for one second, you will hear a beep ad the lights will change to N/R.
Push full brake and release. You will hear a beep and the LEDs will cycle.

and you are done it will go to run mode on its own. I think you are just pressing to many buttons. lol try with your throttle endpoints at 100% if it fails Max them out and repeat.

What do you have your temp cut offs at? and what battery are you using? Sounds like a possible loose power wire.

I will that a try and let you know. I tried two recievers, same problem. If that fails I will reflash the firmware and try again. On a side note, I have never heard a beep to tone change, except when turning it on..

STEP 4 is where I started pressing the button.... while trying to set the foward/reverse points.

1. Connect a proper/charged battery pack to the ESC.
2. Turn on the transmitter with the throttle endpoint adjustments at 100% and all throttle trims centered.
3. Press and hold the red power button on the V-PORT for three seconds. (Followed by beep tone, F/N LED on the V-PORT will be indicated as the image at right)
4. Pull full throttle and hold, while holding press the red power button once. (Followed by beep tone, N/R LED will be indicated as the image shown at right.)
5. Push full brake and hold, while holding press the red power button once. (Followed by beep tone, all LED’s will cycle.)

I never hear the beep tone either unless I press the button to initiate the next step.

Calibration

Okay... I think I got it.... I tried and tired and tried... I think my buttom timing was wrong. I finally got the FN to light up with a tone. I was holding it to a green blink... not sure what that was... But anyways. Some how I help the button the right about of 3 sec and the FN light up with the tome. I was able to set my points.

That was tricky... I will have to get use to it....

Thanks for the help..
