Are the 4 pole 550s going to be the same length? Dont really want to cut my my chassis. thanks
|
No, they will be more inline with a 550 size motor.
|
The 5mm shaft R series 4 poles are going to be longer than the 3mm shaft versions. We are using the same length as the L 550's, which is shorter than the VST XL's and will not require any trimming to get the motor into the SC10 4wd.

What do I want to gear this thing at? I have a 12 tooth on it right now.. but someone was telling me hat these are torquey motors... so have to compinsate with a 14/15ish?
I managed to finagle, grind, whittle, and sand my way in there! http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/d7c4cee2.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/9ed692be.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/231ddfbf.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/083c9e76.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/4b1b706f.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/e38d0adf.jpg |

That sounds good. I already have a pro4 on the way but I will probably just sell that and wait for a 550 4 pole then. Outdoor season is ending soon where I am anyways so I guess I can wait a little longer for those.

I managed to finagle, grind, whittle, and sand my way in there! I run a 14T on the 5.5 and it gets up and moves nicely and very smooth. Don't run any boost/timing on the 550's. They come stock from the factory with 30 degrees on the can. If you need more speed gear up. |

It's a good system, I have been running it the last month without issues in my SCTe. I can't wait to get my hands on the R52, it's going to be a monster in the horse power department.
Nice, that is a very clean job!!! Thanks for the pictures also! I run a 14T on the 5.5 and it gets up and moves nicely and very smooth. Don't run any boost/timing on the 550's. How are these 4 pole motors compared to the VSE motor, My question is would in work in 1/8 th scale with a 10r
|
Yesterday was my first day with my Viper R/C VTX10 ESC & VST 7.5 motor. I love it. ;) I got 2nd in mod 2wd.

This is what we at Viper recommend.

Saw the results!! You had a very short time for setup last night and did very well. Nice work! |
