I have done this because I have switched recivers from cars. I think the radio just keeps it bound to each model you bind it with. I really wish it didnt though

aaron125 05-06-2011 05:14 PM

I like it better to keep the rx bound to the tx regardless of model memory selection. That way, if I had more than 1 vehicle (used to, now just an MP9) I can swap the rx between different cars & not have to worry about changing any settings except for the model memory on the tx to select the right vehicle. Why would someone want it to un-bind itself just because they changed model memory selection on the tx? What is the advantage to that if it was possible to have the tx configured that way? Why would someone want un-bind their rx anyway? The only thing I can figure is that maybe someone with multiple receivers in multiple vehicles but then why not just keep all receivers bound to the M11x & simply select a different model memory setting when going from one vehicle to the next?

E.G. If 3 receivers were bound to a single M11x, wouldn't all of them work fine & stay bound to the tx as long as only 1 rx is on/being used at a time? Can someone please explain to me why they would actually prefer the rx to un-bind iteself & then have to go through the re-binding procedure (I know it's not exactly brain surgery but still takes time & 1 more thing to either forget or go wrong)? Please explain.

I would strongly suggest NOT to buy that or any other Sanwa/Airtronics servo... It is extremely expensive for something that isn't all very fast at all & has rather feable amount of torque, especially compared against some of the better servos available like the Ko Propo RSx Response, even when running the KO at just 6.0V (it's rated for 7.4V) it's so much faster than the Sanwa & is capable of more than 200% higher torque strength!

I've no idea what kind of vehicle you own but for a 1/8th nitro buggy/truggy I would caution anyone buying any servo with less than 11-12kg-cm torque & these days with the variety on offer, a figure of 15-17kg-cm is very easily achievable. The KO Response has figures of 14.5/17.6kg-cm(!!!) & speeds of 0.06/0.07s when running at 6.0/7.4V. If you want absolutely stupendous amounts of torque or just wanna show off, check out the RSx Power, 26.3/31.6kg-cm & 0.13/0.11s (6.0/7.4s). Both KO RSx servos are far & away the finest, strongest & one of the fastest servos money can buy & when you take into account the entirely alloy case on the RSx HC models, made in just 2 pieces, bottom case & lid, they really can't be beat.

Of course the only downside (you knew it was coming, there has to be something about them that's not the best of the best, right?) if you can call it a negative aspect is their price - they definitely ain't cheap.

If you want some really awesome torque/speed servos that are definitely not expensive by any means, check out the latest Orion servos - when price/value for money is taken into account, the new Orions simply cannot be improved upon by anything on the market today. Consider 11kg/0.06s for just US$80, 13kg/0.08s also US$80, 12kg/0.05s US$90 & 16kg/0.09s US$90!!! And those are just their high speed servo lineup, they also have another 4 or 5 with torque figures of up to 26kg/0.12s for $90 or 23kg/0.15s for only US$65.90!

Now you see why I strongly suggest not going within 10feet of those wimpy & horrendously overpriced & underspec'd Sanwa/Airtronics servos!

Just to make sure you absolutely 100% DO NOT waste your money on that Sanwa servo you linked, I just double-checked the specs of my Hitec 5925 & even IT is stronger than the Sanwa, at 9.2kg-cm & has the exact same transit time of 0.08s - but the 5925 must be at least 2 or maybe even 3+ years old by now! Just really wanna emphasise how crappy the specs on the Sanwa really are & it is SO overpriced it's crazy. :p:nod::D

no one wants to unbind their rx....me i just prefer that each rx works with a specific memory only..... i sometimes forget that i'm on memory 1 while using rx 2 with different settings... it's better for the truck not to run than run with the wrong settings... there's no unbinding needed.....that would also be another failsafe feature for people like me who forget...

I am curious, when and what were your previous Sanwa/Airtronics servos you used?

When was about 2-3 years ago & what I can't remember but I do know it was definitely not one of their top of the range servos. I've only ever used the 1 Airtronics servo quite some years ago & I never had any problems or glitches when using it.

I am only commenting from a price/performance viewpoint as I don't feel I have the necessary experience with Airtronics' servos to comment on longevity, quality or anything of that nature. Please notice I have kept my comments solely to that which I do feel qualified to comment upon, their price, which anyone can compare & their performace, again which anyone can compare. I just don't understand why they are so very overpriced & underperforming when there are so many other brands available which are known to be of high or very high quality, have so much better performance specs & are far less expensive. If you can enlighten me I'm all ears.:p:nod:

P.S. Great game isn't it. Just recently installed CoD Black Ops in the past month (yeah, I know I'm a bit behind the times with this game) & loving it. Nice profile pic ganymede!

how do i remove the battery tray?

ganymede 05-10-2011 09:36 AM

Overpricing is relative, it all depends on which specific model and brand you are comparing with. I am using Sanwa High Voltage HVS-ZS (20.5kg, 0.10sec @ 7.4v) with good results and I got it for less than $90, I am sure there are better price vs performance servos out there but so far I am happy with my HVS-ZS.

COD BO is great but I find myself playing more COD MW2 these days, I just finished playing Crysis 2 as well...

Pull it out slightly and unplug the connector.

Never had a problem with Airtronics(Sanwa). Though I have the M11x, I like the feel of the M8 better. The M11x Is the best functioning radio I have ever used and I have tried Futaba, and KOpropo. The only complaint I have about the M11x is that it seems to tilt a little with a lipo or Life battery. In my personal opinion, stick with the Nimh batt. It seems to balance it a little better for me. In my M8, I always use regular AA batteries with no problem. I guess its a matter of personal taste.

Sanwa (Airtronics) makes a full line of servos with different applications .Their high volt servos have similar specs to the KO servos and price point looks to be better.

Did anyone even notice this is a low profile servo more designed for on road applications then off road?It is also an SSR servo designed to be used with m11x and mt4 with a SSR receiver. It is a specialty servo.

This would be better choice for off road if you want to stick with a SSR servo.

Since you are not familiar with the servos and you have only used one Sanwa servo 3 years ago not sure if you are qualified to chime in on their servos. Do you even have an m11x? MT4? Know what SSR is or what it does? He is looking for a specific line of servos to be used in SSR mode with a SSR receiver.

Michael_T 05-10-2011 04:53 PM

I have just purchased a new M11X.

Is there any advantage running a 7.4v Lipo over a 6.6v Life in the transmitter? My preference is Life (because it is safer and last longer), but I am wondering if the radio performs better at the higher 7.4V voltage.

Here is the Life I am referring to, anyone else using it? :
