That describes the V1, not the V2. The ones you got back and sold should be legal.

What the problem with using Epoxy? are they afraid tricks will be hidden?

The HW G4R is going to see a problem with this. There's a lot of epoxy in those motors.

The G4R has two versions, one doesn't have epoxy. And it's already on the approved list, the quote talks about when the compliance date takes effect and what to do for already approved motors.

I can't see where this quote is actually from though. A search of ROARs website and social media doesn't find it.

It's from an executive meeting update post on Facebook from ROAR Racing on July 7.

The scramble at 12th Worlds in Florida is likely the heaviest driver for the new alignment. Clayton is working hard to get rules and processes updated, and EA is on both IFMAR and ROAR boards.

Hell, they should have just stuck with kV ratings and allowed dynamic timing. But nope, someone must have gone wah and said "we want brushless motors to be just like brushed!"

I believe any class faster than 17.5 should just be a modified class. It's right at that point of any ways. You're already squeezing that motor for everything it has and putting the temps into nuclear overload. Just get a 10.5 and tune it down.

Here are the readings I get from my milliohm meter (Instek GOM-804), using the pt-100 sensor as well to account for the temperature offset to 25°C.

Slot Machine V1 Certified Plus
AB: 55.3mΩ
AC: 55.2mΩ
BC: 55.2mΩ

Slot Machine V2 Race Spec
AB: 55.2mΩ
AC: 55.0mΩ
BC: 55.2mΩ

And here are the inductance readings from a cheap lcr meter, checked with no rotor in the can.
Slot Machine V1
AB: 118.4µH
AC: 116.9µH
BC: 118.0µH

Slot Machine V2
AB: 120.1µH
AC: 119.5µH
BC: 119.4µH

What does all this mean???
Fantom Racing champions the idea that if you can find a stator that has the same IR and slightly more inductance, that stator would be the better stator. Well my V2 I just received has lower IR than my Certified and higher inductance, so on paper the V2 is a better motor. I'll do some load testing and dyno pulls on them later.


Ok... I finally around to doing a Load comparison and dyno comparison between the 2 motors. SlotMachine 21.5 Certified and SlotMachine2 21.5. I used the same rotor in both motors for the tests. For the Load test I used my Load Master and for the Dyno test I used a MiniPro Dyno with the V3 board. I'm not really a fan of the V3 board, but it is what I have. Also I used a Modified HP server supply set to 7.2V to run the Dyno test for consistency.

Interesting to note. Even though the motors looked the same on paper, once a load was put on the motors you could definitely see a difference. The Slot Machine 2 is down in power and torque compared to the OG Slot Machine. I did mess up the graphs on the OG by using MPH instead of RPM, but the curves are the same because it is a function of the revs of the motor. MPH doesn't quite calculate correctly since I wasn't using the roller.

Anyway, here are the files.

The SM-1 is quite better in all areas. More torque and a higher RPM with a lower current draw. I'm guessing I will not be turning in my Certified SM. I'm finding that most tracks don't care which SM you run. Heck, I'm finding a lot of tracks don't even care if you run an outlaw.

must be off road tracks because on road doesn’t allow that and if caught they handle it pretty quickly. The numbers wont compare as the SM1 was deemed illegal for a reason so honestly the only comparison you can carryover is the rotor.
