HR mode is quite standard beginning mode for digital servo

I know that. It's a mid tier servo, doesn't do SSR.

you shall ask for replacement or exchange another unit, then try on other non mainly running car.

Maybe. Bit of a hassle dealing with warranty claims from AliExpress in Australia, and return shipping is nearly the cost of the device. Trying to convince them to send a replacement without me returning it might be a challenge, especially if it works on a test bench.

choisan 07-26-2023 06:32 AM

if i were them, i will send you a replacement, and hope you will praise for the customer service, although it is a non western based company,......that they might not even care.
with that said, i will give it a try.

i am thinking as long as discuss the issues you have, the damage cost would probably something that they cant afford. they may even not need you to send back.

Update: sent a message to the seller, haven't got a response back yet. But I can now reproduce the issue on the bench. Simply turning to full lock, waiting a moment, then releasing the wheel to get the servo to return to centre as fast as possible is enough to trigger it. Might be a brownout issue, but every other receiver I've used works fine on this car with this servo and ESC BEC. So maybe it's just more sensitive to brownouts. I'll try a glitch buster cap at some point, and once my pocket oscilloscope arrives I'll see if I can monitor the voltage rail.

I used my multimeter and observed voltage dips down to 5.5V before it cut out. The older receiver didn't cut out despite dipping to 5.4V. Dasmikro lists the operating voltage range as down to 3.5V so either it's failing to meet that, or the multimeter can't measure the spikes fast enough.

I didn't know Das Mikro had an FH5 out. Spicy!

How did it work?

I will. But, I forgot it's a Thursday and was thinking it was an older post and he had already done the test (and OMG, I didn't look at the date of the post). Excuse me for having a few irons in the fire these days!

gigaplex and choisan thanks for being a guinea pig on these. Would love to find some lower priced FH5 for a few of the "non"essential cars as I'm sure others would too. Hopefully the voltage issue is simply a bad unit.

gigaplex 07-27-2023 03:59 PM

The seller is sending me a new unit, will see how that one goes when it arrives.

see, at the beginning launching of this new clone, it cant afford such negative publicity.
to me, the SSL function failure on FH5U with sanwa pgs hr is definitely an issue.
if anyone would buy this clone for this SSL, simply forget it
