Default Rollout for 6 cell asphalt

I was discussing this with Grenade today before the snow hit.

I need a general starting point for the CO27 and an Atlas 19t

Grenade was thinking of
CO27 - 2.0 inches
19t - 2.15 to 2.20 inches

I had this from last season
CO27 - 1.80 to 2.00 inches or 45.7 to 50.8 mm
19t - 1.40 to 1.60 inches or 35.6 to 40.6 mm
Chameleon - 1.50 to 1.70 inches

Thoughts

Without factoring in traction, batteries, exact motor setup, exact course layout, etc. I think you're looking to be on the highish side for stock but close for 19t - In my experience, you can actually gear stock and 19t w/in a couple percentage points of each other for asphalt roadcourse and my best guess - admittedly a guess since I haven't ran your track - is that you're closer on the 19t gear.

Mark A - Good point on the items that factor in. The track is short with maybe 1 or 2 tight spots. Traction is low at best, and the surface requires more ground learance than normal. I'm up to 6-7mm so it does not ware out the chassis. I also gear "Tall" to keep the rear end under controll on low speed turns. Also on the 19 turn, I'm running a Reddy or Check Point motor. The Komodo or Atlas stay in the box.

If the traction comes up, I'll drop the gear ratio, and have gone down to 1.60 and the car continues to pick up speed. Rinkrat did not mention, that he normally runs stock to keep the rear of the car from coming out.

Sounds a lot like the Camarillo track we used to occasionally run at – we’d overgear by 1-2 teeth on the pinion there as well.

The rear cross braces are different from the 10L3 to the 10L2. Try ebay AE store. Thats how I found my rear dampener plate for the 10L3/10L2O that uses the dampener disc.

Good to hear it's working good... Have you broke anything yet? I was wondering what spare parts I need to stock up on... I'm prepping the carbon chassis components now and should get started building in a day or so...should be fun

I got Jaco Pinks and Purpules for it (R/F) and I think I'll run them out of the box as is... they seem to be pretty equal in diameter. Hopefully this setup will work on an indoor asphalt track....

I'll probably run a 19turn in it as well, but with a 4800 Lipo pack. Should be interesting! BTW, does anyone know what a good motor spring combo would be for a Komodo for this class?? Finally, what would a good rollout (pinion/spur gear) be for a short indoor track for my combination (the tires are 62mm in diameter...)

Glad to see yours is working well... keep us posted if you get a class of them going at your track...

Just saw the upper link for an L2 on ebay and that's remind me a question I have regarding aerodynamics.

On the pic in attachment (oming for the sale on ebay), the rear vents are open just below the rear wing. What is the influence of those vents? Is that better to get them open or close?

Thanks for the explanation!

At high speeds it seems to plant the rear much better. I have cut mine out and with really good traction, I have taped over them, if the body makes it to tight.

IMO!!
