I don't want to be flamed for this, but i want to explain it for the noobs. 31,000rpms is when this engine makes the most power, but it goes up to 36000rpm, but at 36000rpm it won't make as much power. To have this engine be successful you would definetly need to have better gearing. That way you can keep up and even beat the Italian mills.

Am I right about the most power part gijoe64?

mckrooz 06-03-2004 03:01 PM

But you would still need to have the rpms to pull that high gearing. Looks like this motor would be an excellent medium-large track motor.

i dunno about that, but still skill of driving the car plays a big role in this. Plus this motor dynoed 1000rpm more at it's highest hp than the TR turbo 5 port and we all know who won the last race. With some creative gearing this motor is upto par with the Italian mills.

I will most likely get the R-spec now, you guys have any ideas where I can break it in, because my neighbors don't like rc's:cry:

mckrooz 06-03-2004 05:51 PM

Sure he won the race but his motor wasn't dominating. Actually, my buddy was running a NS3 and he and Ah10 were consistent top 3 for the majority of the race. The TR was in 4-5 most of the race till the end. He flat out ran consistent times, enabling him to get in good position and win when the NS3 ran out of gas and Ah10 had clutch problems. Let's just say his motor ran good and he had driving skills. But hey, a win is a win no matter which way you slice it. I would suggest breaking in the motor at the track. That way guys could help you out. I always break in on the track. When can we expect you out on the track?

Data has the Evo.

compaq888 06-03-2004 08:13 PM

I will be at the track this Saturday, then when I get the motor i will race at crystal. I will get the motor when it comes out, Ah10 said he will help me set it up. This saturday i need to fix little stuff on the RR and Ah10 and his buddy will help me out.:)

compaq888 06-04-2004 12:11 AM

good news, i got some money but i want to order everything at once, so i can get a good discount, still waiting for the TR R-spec to come out..:(

I will still be at the track this saturday, i fabbed up a new receiver cover since my hitec receiver doesn't fit it, i'll show it to you guys saturday, it covers all sides of the receiver:sneaky:

I feel sad for compaq88, it's a good thing my name is compaq888 so I don't have to buy you lunch:lol:

Data, I'm missing a fuel tank, tie rod, and a dogbone. Also my servo saver won't fit because i got Hitec servos, same thing for throtale likages.

So the car looks far from running.

I'm on a really tight budget, i had to take out money from my car fund( real car, not rc's), I have to buy a engine, starter box, header, pipe, and probably some car parts and also a fail safe. So I won't even eat lunch:(

mckrooz 06-04-2004 04:21 PM

I got a fuel tank for you. I might have a servo saver you could try and maybe a dogbone. I'm sure we could all scavenge some parts to get it running. Heck, I even got a spare motor that recently got pinched that could use some help breaking in. Just bring EVERYTHING.

what do you mean by "pinched"?

SlobbaTech 06-04-2004 09:37 PM

How far does the mileage get you guys when racing on-road? What glow plug do you all like best with it on 30%? Thanks!

BigDogRacing 06-06-2004 07:07 PM

I wish you guys would use PMs or your local threads to chit chat!!!:flaming: :flaming:

compaq888 06-06-2004 10:29 PM

sorry, it's kinda boring waiting for the R-spec engine, we will get back on the topic as soon as Tower releases it, which should be at the end of this month.

compaq888 06-14-2004 06:18 PM

I finally got my motor mounts in today and it looks like they will fit an OS engine, they are the $35+ kind motor mounts, but i got them way cheaper:sneaky:

compaq888 06-20-2004 06:56 PM

ok, the engine is finally out, but the bad news that Tower has them on back order:(

rene 06-20-2004 10:18 PM

just saw that beauty, does anybody know where to get the specs, or at least the want to be specs since they lie anyway:p

romuald31 06-22-2004 11:29 AM

hello from France,

My 12Tr T-spec 2004 run now 10 liters of 16% nitro fuel (EFRA specs).
There's no differences between my engine and the JP or Rody's...
We run only on very large permanent tracks. All italians brand refuel at 5mn and I at 6mn and the t° is lower....

I just change the rod after 2 liters and the engne is like new.

The new machined piston is so good.

Enjoy it

compaq888 06-22-2004 12:04 PM

we will see how it works. Got any pics of the inside of the engine?

romuald31 06-22-2004 12:45 PM

some pics

12tr t-spec

sorry, it's a webcam....

compaq888 06-22-2004 01:20 PM

You're saying on the straights, the engine gives up nothing to the Italian motors?...

jrabbito 06-23-2004 07:13 AM

i know, i posted it yesterday.

romuald31 06-23-2004 09:33 AM

hello from France,

My engine isn't stock. I made big mods. So , I got same power than JP or Rody's.
The piston is machined not molded and it make a big difference.
Is the US version with the machined/cut piston??

The stock engine is at the same level than RB V12 or Nova 12LL3 or another stock engine but easier to tune ....

tallyrc 06-26-2004 05:32 PM

why isn't the engine marcos is showing, the same as romuald's engine starting with the carb...????

romuald31 06-27-2004 02:06 AM

hello from France,
The carburator is modified like JP's Venturi carb....
The only parts not modified are the conrod and the heatsink...

that's why my OS can compet JP and Rody modified engines.

With the stock OS, i'm sure you will be better than other stock engines ( RB V12, Nova 12LL,sirio evo2....)

bye
