Thanks for the clarification, I'm not always good with remembering peoples names. I just edited in the names.

mckrooz 07-30-2004 07:47 AM

Dennis looks about 20-something! I expected him to look a little older.

He is a bit older, and wise beyond his years. I know because he just had one of his kids graduate from HS recently, so he's got to be about 40ish.

Motorman 07-30-2004 02:31 PM

No
Eric ran standard nova all weekend.

Nice run Eric

HEY, HEY, HEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Easy on the "40ish" stuff. My daughter just graduated high school, and I'm not quite at the 40 mark yet. Don't rush us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D ;)

CONGRATS to Dennis and the guys !!!!!!! (especially the Va, DC guys):D

Motorman 08-04-2004 09:12 PM

Cartman 08-05-2004 12:26 AM

nice to be able to put a face to your name!!....................or have you spent a frotune on plastic surgery:D

GrandeGixxer 08-05-2004 12:46 AM

Dennis, you need to trade that serpent shirt in for a mugen shirt.

BTW, Did you go to the fuel nats in san jose?

Motorman 08-05-2004 03:23 PM

Thats brad I'm standing to the left in the center. Yep 41 this year I just look like a kid. :0)

GrandeGixxer 08-06-2004 01:53 AM

sorry, must have read wrong. Didn't think you would be pimping serpent' product.

But, I think what everyone wants is updates on the motor

I myself will not be in the marken til about October time frame, but definatly like for your engine(with your rep im sure you will not sell a piece of crap) to be in my option list.

right now it includes Nova ns3 (modded or not I know it is a damn good motor, Mugen X12(I know it has trouble making 5 minutes in a qualifier, so it counts it out), JP Fx12t03( Kinda pricey but I am sure it performs). and yours. Dennis I know you dont have to sell me on yours because I know you will sell plenty but I am still a budget minded racer and yours appeals to me the most at this time cause of the price(and im in the military and dont make all that much). but, I dont see Jean Paul on this site supporting his motor.

I guess thats about it. Thanks Dennis I am sure the motor will be great and I will have one in my car come time for the worlds.

Motorman 08-10-2004 05:30 PM

significant strides were made in the last two weeks with regards to power and we hope durability. we are pulling it all together. we had a eureka moment last monday night and the true potential of the engine was reveled. still pulling hard at 330 ft .All I can say is Unfricken believable, I never dreamed a 12 could run that hard. I'm still beside myself and cant get over it with all the problems we had at the great lakes challenge. Ironicly the issue was a very small one requiring just a .3 mm change to a part. All the plans are in place we hope to launch the engine soon with the fixes. stay tuned. The nats is the true test as to whether we have it nailed or not. I believe we do. All my buddies said I should not say anything but I just cant help it. If the production motors have power like the preprototypes do you will be buying stock in belts and diff gears. The engines went from mediocre to absolutly stupid on power.

Gixer thanks fot the support. I know we are manufacturers and in the business to make money but people who appreciate what we are really trying to do are rare. again thanks. RD and Richey Performance thank you all for your support.

Z00M 08-11-2004 03:35 AM

Well done Dennis, from the way you have written your post it sounds like you're a kid in a candy store again

Let me know as soon as I can get a couple of those motors over here to Australia for testing :)

tallyrc 08-11-2004 09:01 AM

whenever you say the word dennis, i want 3 maybe 4 of them so let us know.

YBSLOW 08-11-2004 03:27 PM

RayJ

What up dude. How did the engine run today? Call me.

RayJ 08-11-2004 06:23 PM

Yo yo Brad

After running the motor really really hard for 20+ tanks of fuel, I can say that Dennis has fixed the problems that were present at the GLC. The motor is a keeper. Strong strong bottom end and really screams at the top. I'm tryin' hard to understate things here abit but I was impressed. The motor was also easy to tune and stayed that way all afternoon. The true test will be in race conditions.

tomkelley 08-11-2004 07:16 PM

If there is a motor out there to put a smile on RayJ's face when he squeezes the trigger then sign me up for one.

Dennis, will we be seeing these motors make the Midwest Series this weekend?

Motorman 08-11-2004 09:13 PM

yes three of them.
unfortunatly that is all I will have ready and I have to work. I may make down sunday and run the one morning qualifer.

isuzuguy 08-12-2004 06:18 AM

power to the people

hey motorman ,u think they will be avalible before the rd logics race rev??:D :D :D :D :D

GrandeGixxer 08-15-2004 12:53 AM

Dennis, do you have a solid date on the release yet? I just passed up a smokin deal on a jp ns3 tonight cause i told him i was going to try your motor so it better be good.
Also, are you going to have plenty of motors to go around when they come out, or are we going to be fighting over them?

Data 08-17-2004 07:08 AM

motorman:

found an interesting article about modification on combustion chamber of real car engines. quite similar to the modification you do to the head button on rc engines. will the new engines you are manufacturing has the same feature ?

data

Motorman 08-17-2004 03:34 PM

yes it is the same theory and I have used it for years. I also use a variant of it on the sleeve to straigten the air origionaly the engine was to have stratospheric charge slots in the head but the latest revision has proven that the engine wants a conventional head. Funny people have called my heads window dressing. LOL

Gixer production has started and the issues have been resolved. indications of last weekends race were awesome. people could actually pick the cars out with the engines in them without even looking killer stupid torque and rediculous rpm. they will be available within the next 30/45 days as we are confident it is ready to go. The US nats will be the indicator and a few factory drivers have seen them and one has driven one and was very suprised at its low end power top end rpm and its idle stability. I can honestly say we have a winner. Pulling all the suppliers together packaging and instruction manuals are what we are working on now. the price may go up slightly as we have had to resort to a different piston and sleeve supplier but I am a stickler for perfection. I will hold the prices as low as possible.

I plan to release 25 or so siganture engines right at the start that are hand tweeked and blessed by me to the public. as we ramp in conventional production. these will be the same engines we will run at the US nationals. contact RD to reserve one. ask for david. when there gone there gone. later in the year a team engine will become available but in very limited quantity. there is not a big difference between them but maybe 5% but they are destined to become collectables for sure.

GrandeGixxer 08-17-2004 05:10 PM

that is great news dennis. im glad you got everything figured out. do you know yet how much the price is going to have to raise? and will you still be offering the package deal with the turbo 2?
thanks for the updates and good luck at the nats.

Dennis, I spoke and e-mailed David at RD to make my reserve, he said he will speak with you, because there is allready a waiting list, but just remeber i reserved one from you back in February through this forum and you said you were going to hook me up on the list. Thanks
One question, is the signature engine coming with the package of both heads + pipe, etc. or will this be just engine??? I need the std. head, because we still haven't changed our rules till next year to allow turbo heads.

AFM

bbntc3 08-17-2004 08:11 PM

Hey Dennis what's up bro!! Is there any kinda of a short track engine in the future with RD??? I think long and short track engines are diffferent especially in the crank induction window. What all the long tracks guys need is'nt exactly what we short drivers need. What long track engines needs our short track engines lack. You know what I mean!! or is there a happy compromise in timeing for both, I don;t how but you would know!!! I know it would be alot of trouble but it's somethiing to maybe look into! BB

tomkelley 08-17-2004 08:24 PM

What about compensating with pipe/manifold lengths?

GrandeGixxer 08-18-2004 12:37 AM

most of the newer engines have a good range of torque and hp, so i think the happy medium for short track is finding a happy medium on the trigger finger pretty much. the track i usually run on is pretty small and tight, but the good drivers with the x 12's and ns3's usually do pretty well. this engine should far surpass them.

Motorman 08-20-2004 07:45 PM

guys sorry I have been quiet leading up to the nats but I've been jinxed in the past and I'm a little superstitious now. The power and performance is really amazing. One week, 3 days and counting.

Bob the engine will deliver all over the track, top bottom and everywhere in between.

I know it would be alot of trouble
It was and we did.

tallyrc 08-21-2004 02:18 PM

are you still going to drop the word on where we can order them from on here first? i need 3 of them. thanks

Motorman 08-21-2004 09:05 PM

yes I will.

2 of them will be running in the region 2 race this weekend. If your there go check them out.
Mark Unrath
Eric Jones

another will be running a toledo club race this weekend in prep for the nationals
Ray Juhl

I currently have seven protos which will be running the US Nats. If you would like to see one the following guys will have one in their cars.

Dennis Richey Serpent 710/ Richey RRE Engine/RD turboII
Brad Toffelmire Serpent 710/ Richey RRE Engine/RD turboII
Ray Juhl Serpent 710/ Richey RRE Engine/RD turboII
Mark Unrath Mugen MTX3/ Richey RRE Engine/RD turboII
Eric Jones Mugen MTX3/ Richey RRE Engine/RD turboII
Eli Ezrow NTC3/ Richey RRE Engine/RD NTC3 turbo legal
Ira Schultz NTC3/ Richey RRE Engine/RD NTC3 turbo legal

Z00M 08-22-2004 03:45 AM

Good luck to all the runners, hope everything goes well. Hope everything goes especially well for Eli and Ira since they run the NTC3's :D

I managed to get on the list for what I believe to be one of the 25 Signature engines, so I can't wait to see how these go. No matter how long it takes to get it, at least I know it'll be spot on when it gets here to Oz

am 08-22-2004 09:05 AM

Motorman,

Can you tell me how you make the marks in head button? I now it is probebly one of your secrets but ask anyway.

Thanks,

Anders

Cartman 08-22-2004 09:12 AM

dremel i believe

am 08-22-2004 09:29 AM

I belive so to. Let me refrase.

Where in the combusten chamber and how deep, profiles, all around or just over main intake port or all over head

Cartman 08-22-2004 09:40 AM

well buy and engine and look then!!

am 08-22-2004 02:37 PM

I would if it was possible to get one in Norway. All stuff bought from the stats is getting expensive here because of 24% vat and shipping.

Also i run 1:8 buggys so i do not need the engine.

Motorman 08-22-2004 06:32 PM

well Ironically I have deleted the fireslots from the production engine as we are making more power without them. As for Norway I'm not sure who is the dealer there but you could get one from Microtech when they come out.

On another note congrats to Eric Jones who TQ'd and won the district 2 roar regionals running the RD Richey racing engine. Mark Unrath finished third after giving up 45 seconds to make a minor low speed adjustment to his RD Richey engine during the race. TQ was a fight between Mark Eric and Carl.

Our first win and counting.

jjmudd 08-22-2004 08:13 PM

Sounds great Dennis!! I still haven't received an email from you about what we discussed for Canada. Drop me a note when you are not so busy with the up-coming Nat.s [email protected]
