Things are bad on the tire front. I was told 30 days minimum. My order was back ordered. It is going to be a real problem.

should had asked the fairy to visit me and stay home too. yesteray was just terrible, got all sorts of problem with the engines and the cars. engine die right before the first qualifier starts, engine die right before the second qualifier ends, only ran 3 laps during the main. i knew i had a bad day when i couldn't even finish a bottle of fuel between my two cars. *sigh*

how did you do today ?

You really should try the Turbo II pipe. It's very good.

he did.

mckrooz 07-18-2004 09:59 PM

Missed 1st qualify because of bad outdrives, 2nd qualify lost front uni. so I limped through. 3rd was good. Started 4th B-Main, finished 2nd. Not too bad. The motor was working great. Not as much power as when we were playing with it, but it was reliable and consistent. Temps after main was 240. Guess I coulda gone higher.

Had a chance to try out that "cheap and nasty" JPL pipe today. ;)
It's pretty much as AMGRacer said. Pretty good bottom end with somewhat less at the top end, though quite linear. We were on a medium techical track, so it worked nicely.

oh speaking of the turbo II pipe, I am probably one of the few ppl got the first batch, and I have a couple of brand new one in my box as spare! hehe I have to have some of those good stuff in my box!

No I will try to get some high res pictures up today.

PSI Racing 07-21-2004 05:32 PM

Dennis, do you have an estimated street price for the engines?

GrandeGixxer 07-21-2004 06:32 PM

PSI read motormans post on page 12. it has prices on there.

PSI Racing 07-21-2004 07:20 PM

Yeah, I seen that after I posted.
I also seen his post on page 11 that says the engines will be under $200.

GrandeGixxer 07-22-2004 06:24 PM

the motor alone i believe he is still entending to get to public for under 200. the 250 or so is with an rd logics turbo 2 pipe. good deal since that is the general price for the motors it will compete with.

Motorman 07-22-2004 10:06 PM

The base motor is actually 1 to 200 hundred under the price of engines it will compete with. Sorry no pics yet guys I have been really busy getting ready to debut the engine this weekend at the Great Lakes Challenge race. Alot of 3 am nights. I have seven or so team guys I am busy supporting for this event. I will post some pictures after the event.

PSI Racing 07-22-2004 11:01 PM

Thanks guys.

tallyrc 07-23-2004 08:32 AM

Hope things went well this weekend with the motor. Can you give us a bit of a report on how they went?

chicky03 07-26-2004 11:51 AM

Hi Dennis,

It was nice to meet you at the GLC this weekend. I was the guy pitting next to Ron Atomic.

Paul

GrandeGixxer 07-26-2004 07:17 PM

so we are all waiting to hear how the engines performed this weekend? any new findings dennis?

Z00M 07-28-2004 06:59 PM

I wish Dennis would reply, I want to know if he's celebrating or if he's crying in his corn flakes. I want to buy one of his engines so I hope he's celebrating

Well Dennis is probably not celebrating yet. Brad made it to the B main and finished 7th DNF. I was there, since I was racing 2 classes 1/8th and 1/10th 235mm I didn't get a chance to see the new motor running.

Look for Brad T's lap times in the B main, and Sedan Touring qualifying (race 8 heat number round 1-3, race #13 heat # 6 round 4).

http://www.jlapracemanager.com/cgi-b...p?where=Toledo

I'm not sure, but there may have been other drivers using Dennis's motors. Perhaps by the time of the Sedan Nats we'll see more motors running there.

Z00M 07-28-2004 11:28 PM

Seems as though Brad was about a second off the pace. Have to wait for someone's report to know if it was setup/engine/extraterrestrial intervention etc.

I think Dennis posted that he was supporting some 7 drivers at that meet so maybe he's still sleeping

madness 07-29-2004 05:44 AM

Motorman: Who will be doing the distribution for your line of engines? Will you have direct distribution for international orders? I would like to test them here in Puerto Rico.

Thanks in advance for the information.

Miguel Daumont
San Juan, P.R.

munrath 07-29-2004 07:00 AM

Guys,

We worked Dennis hard this past weekend at the Great Lakes Challange with testing, tuning and more testing. I'm sure Dennis will be on here later this week to give everyone a full report.

Thanks,
Mark

We experimented a little too much in qualifying, motors ran really good lap times in practice on Thursday. We should have the fix for
Nats. I will let Dennis comment on the details as far as what he wishes to disclose, I will say the motors have great potential and are almost but not quite there yet. I think it will be worth the wait.

Z00M 07-29-2004 03:42 PM

I'm only speaking for myself here, but I think everyone wants Dennis to succeed (except other motor manufacturers I guess, he he) so we all get a better deal in the long run.

I am drumming up interrest here on the west coast of Australia. Just need to know when we can get some motors.

Motorman 07-29-2004 04:46 PM

Gentlemen we have a piston and sleeve issue. The specs I gave for the sleeve are causing some premature compression fall off. We are working on a resolution. unfortunatly the project is on hold as we work on a remedy.
Heres what I can tell you on friday brad ran consistant 20.1 20.2 20.3 LAPS. 20.5 TQ'd the race. The engines fell of into the 21.1 range on saturday so I made the decision to let the guys change over to either their Rihey novas or their JP's for the last qualifier or the main. Most of the RD richeys were either at the top of the b main or in the A. I personally ran one qualifier but the car kept rolling over. My focus was getting the RD/Richey under control. It did not happen. so the production is on hold for a month until we resolve the issue. we did not see the issue at the 1/2 gallon mark, it professed itself at the 3/4 gallon mark. Yes the richey RD motor will go to production but it will be delayed a month or so while we work this out.
Dennis

RD Drivers finished very high and I thank them all, some of them stuck with the RD Richey engine the whole event. Come Nationals we will have it under control. Thanks guys Heartfull thanks.
Munrath
Erock
1Fast1
YBslow
Ira Schultz
RayJ

You guys did a great Job. Come Nats time I will have the prototypes under control.

To everyone else thanks for your support. RD and I will bring you a JP equvielent for under 200 dollars we promise. Soon
Dennis

Z00M 07-29-2004 05:16 PM

Props to you for being so honest about the issues encountered. This only serves to strengthen my resolve to be one of the first to be running Richey/RD engines here in Australia.

It does however prove my theory that issues will only ever be encountered at race meets and never in practice   And I thought it was just me.....

THANK YOU, THANK YOOU, THANK YOOOOU!!!!!:D::D:

I applaud you hard work in developing a high performance engine and keeping the prices in check Dennis.

Novarossi based stock 3-port .12 engine prices has gotten rediculously high in the past two years. I dont think that the current engine technology(compared to two years ago)is such that it justifies the price we see now. I remember when $130 for a MT12 was the norm and our jaws would drop at the price of a Richey or a JP mod, which incidently is still cheaper than a current stock engine. Almost a $200 increase just for a bigger crank, revised timing, better piston materials, etc.??:weird::confused: C'mon!! And none of that is hand worked. When and where will it end. Yes, speed costs $$$ but usually more speed ='s turbos, superchargers, titanium, hand porting and other stuff that of course will add $$$.

Prices need to come back down NOW. How is this class going to grow when a teenage kid is going to have an almost impossible task to convince his parents to buy an $300+ "Stock" engine to go with his $300+ touring car just to go racing and be competitive. As a matter of fact, i'm still on a break from R/C racing and one of the reasons is engine prices. Head count at our local track hasn't grown either., infact it has dwindled, and I attribute this to the rising engine prices.:flaming:

Well, i'm OK now. Done venting.:D

So........I now eagerly await the RD/Richey engine and the supposed lower priced Serpent Mega/Picco engines.

Motorman's race team at the GLC

Pics just came in from Mike Myers. I thought I'd share with you the photos posted on the Starting Grid Forums for the GLC, Conf Toledo.

http://www.rc-racing.com/2004/july/p...s/DSC_2863.jpg

Dennis is seen in the middle, 3rd from left. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from left to right (and starting from back row) I know that its Eli Ezrow, Ira Schultz, Dennis Richey, Brad Toffelmire, Ray Juhl, Eric Jones, and Mark Unrath.

Here's Dennis's Beautiful 710 with the prototype RRE motor in it.

munrath 07-30-2004 05:47 AM

Hey Tom,

Thats Eric Jones and I. I'm the one with the Mugen shirt and Eric is standing to Ray's left.

Thanks,
Mark Unrath
