Still can't see how it is running too lean. I get white smoke on hard acceleration and the engine temp stays pretty constant. I have only turned the high/low needles enuf to get engine running during breakin. As i got near the end of the breakin period, the engine idled faster and I richend the low end to compensate. After 10 tanks, I barely turned the high speed needle and this engine really moves. Like I said before, real tuning will come spring time when the weather is warmer. Maybe with the cool air the engine is running richer than it should. I dunno but I wont be running this engine again until all the snow goes away!!!

Anyone else running the rr12l3?? Is it normal to be able to run around 10 minutes or more on one tank of fuel or is my engine tuning just way out of wack?? Need some replies from rr12l3 owners as this engine was made for torque at low to medium engine speed which it does outstanding...

i hear what your saying its just how do you get 10mins out of a tank when your running it non stop unless its lean? average is around 5mins of non stop.
|
i think maybe rc cars are like real cars where stop and go (traffic lights etc...) is what makes the engine drink more fuel.

any info on where to find sleeve and piston set for an old and reliable rs12s1, i know that model is gone but whar are the similar sets for this model, for instance on mega, max, rb, etc and where can I purchase in the us this set, thanks in advance.

|
you can't find anymore, except for stores that may have some kits remaining........
the ns series piston/sleeve set fit your engine......there are slight differences (tranfers porting and sometimes higher exhaust port) but your engine will work perfectly... |
Ive done it and it worked great

NSR12s3
Hey guys, quick question.
I've been reading through your post and I read about a modded version of the NSR12. I just purchased one and the description reads "Fresh batch '04, Q4 production" I looked at the Novarossi site to compare inscriptions on heads and the one I purchased looked different than the one on the site. It said "nsr3 race" same asNova site, but it looked to be more plainly written than the one on the Nova site. Is this the modded version? Thank you, Tenderfoot P.S. I have not received it yet. |
take you engine apart and check the sleeve ports.......
the fresh batches engines come with new style porting..... like this: http://www.salvadoriracing.com.br/st...rexrer12s3.jpg there is another version that is called TUNED, but the head comes with TUNED inscription....the version seems like a Mario Rossi one.....but since the regular versions come with the new style porting, buying a tuned version really isn't worth...... I've seen both versions running and the tuned version isn't faster than the regular one (with new style porting off course)..... BTW>>>> this picture was took from my own engines, I bought some engines, all from August/2004 batch.... |
Thanks Salvadori,
You must not have seen my p.s. I realized after posting that I needed to ad that. How do you like your engine? I've heard alot of good comments. Thanks again, Tenderfoot |
this engine is the best "stock" engine for sure....probably the novarossi one works the same......
is beats the "myth" JP FX12 T03 by far (at least running 16& nitro fuel, the jp racing seems to run well only with higher nitro content, racing under ifmar rules these JPs engines are nothing but crap))......and has enough power to run like IDM, novamax, rb concept "rody modified" and many others high end engines.... |
sorry for the dumb question but...what is the best "stock" engine??
|
when I say STOCK......I'm refering to "factory" engines......that hasn't been handtuned, black anodized, big heads.......
i.e.: rex, top and novarossi are "stock" engines..... IDM, Novamax, JP, M.Collari, Murnam, etc, etc, etc. are modded engines..... |
just wanted to now which "stock" engine beats the "JP FX12 T03 by far" that you stated in a previous post??
