I also have a similar concern about picking up another Nova engine, actually a Max engine.

My last two were Max but since they are Nova based, I am not sure if I should continue getting them as I am going to need a new one soon...

Max has his own full production line and does not need to rely on Novarossi.

Not quite sure if I agree on 5% driving + 95% tech statement though. Sure it's important to know your chassis + engine setup and it's easy to make gains with that early on. But quality track time where you're focusing on improving your driving is invaluable once you've run out of things you can blame on the car
Oh haha - thanks for the lingo tip... Yeah perhaps i should clarify what i mean by the 5% -not in terms of lap time but perhaps 95/5 in terms of time spent tinkering vs actually driving (at least for me) - but then again it did take me almost 40 mins to replace a front belt the other day when i'm sure others would have had it done in 5-10mins).

Hello,

So I was servicing my Mephisto and noticed two of the crank weights were loose, one actually fell out. Has anyone had this happen before? Can I run it without the weights?

Thanks!!

I had it with a 35plus21 with one of the 2 inserts

I would sugest to use a glueing loctite like 648 to put it back

MAX his latest engines use rods which are made by Hudy. All I know they have a 4.8mm crankpin, not sure if the length is the same.

That's exactly what I did (plus some holy water on the heat sink lol) and it lasted through this past race weekend. Have to take it apart and inspect it.

The weights only move towards the bearing side not towards the rod because of the concave hole they are slotted into.

You can see the weight all the way to the right was out, the middle weight also was loose.
