hi i have a nsr12 s3 nova and i'd like to changed the motor bearings to ceramic bearings. i visited the bocabearings site and sent them a email but i still haven't found, or recieved a reply of the correct bearings i need.

i noticed on the boca site there are:

high speed and
high temp bearings

which are better for the .12 use? i want the higher rpm, but does this mean they will explode at high heat? ie 150degrees celcius, it is the R version so i am going to run it at the required temp for max performance.

MY QUESTION IS WHICH MODEL NUMBER BEARING DO I GET? I WANT FULL CERAMIC BEARINGS.

thanks

pm me the answer please as i don't visit the engine thread often

Ziggy, TSR12, not TT12.

Frag, I ran mine the first time this past weekend. Fastest engine I've ever had.

ziggy12345 04-20-2004 04:52 AM

Sorry

TSR12S5
1.62hp
43,500rpm
5ports
13.80 X 14.04
turbo
11.5

NSR12S5
1.62hp
43,500rpm
5ports
13.80 X 14.04
turbo
11.5

No difference in spec to the NSR. Is there a difference in power band?

So the TSR12 actually exists, I would imagine that it would be identical to the NSR12, only different markings and head colour?

I*'ll mail my contact at Novarossi and find out if there is a difference. I cant see any on the spec sheet

Cheers

You are right, Novarossi manufactures under three different brands, Novarossi, Top and Rex. All of them have the same engine version with same characteristics.
Novarossi = NSR12S3(5)
Top = TSR12S3(5)
REX = RER12S3(5)
Question of marketing. Same girl with different underwear.

I see, thank you. I wonder, are the Top and Rex motors cheaper than the Novarossi Stablemates, I would expect so, otherwise, why make 3 motors, with the same specs, and the same price, with different names, at the same time? seems odd. Maybe I am just being stupid. or not thinking as usual...

stefan 04-20-2004 10:07 AM

1.) It's not the same spec than the Nova Rossi. It's made to Jim Hottinger's spec. (the guy who ran Paris Racing and now owns Fusion Motorsorts)

2.) It's not cheaper, it's more expensive than the NR!

3.) It's worth it!

Well, I have been knocked sideways... Where does one get one from? I thought the Nova's were the best from there, I never even looked at the TOP or REX motors as I was under the impression that they were budget motors, like Celeron and P4, and Duron and Athlon, like H... No War Starting... sorry...

Where can one get one from (not ebay) ? they look cool with the black... I wander what the Palmaris puts out.

stefan 04-20-2004 11:03 AM

Usually, they are all exactly the same, no 1st or 2nd tier, but in this case it seems that Jim got special Top versions for the US.

www.nitrohouse.com

under engines -> Nova Rossi -> all the way on the bottom.

I think reason for having 3 brands is so they can have more exclusive distributors in each region. Sort of what Gadini does with Elligi/Power/Fast/Sprint/...etc tires. Except for the Mugen Fast with different rims, all other brand use the same rims and rubbers for touring car tires.

On the external, the engines all have slightly different crank case... The internal porting are exactly the same. If you are after a stock engine I think they are all the same. You have to go to JP/Max/M.Rossi version to get one that has been worked on.

Nitropimp 04-20-2004 08:39 PM

Wow I'm lost now:confused: Not that's something new:weird: But I thought NovaMega and NovaMax were Novarossi engines too. Are RB's Novarosssi too???

:rolleyes: :rolleyes:
