they have both the 421p & 421b. reviews about the 421b seem to be mixed. i've surfed the web, and found one guy on several boards saying it sucked and he had seen some team guys switching back to the p-5. again, one guy's opinion i've found on different forums. while i was @ nitrohouse, i had asked one of the guys, and he said it ripped. same bottom as the p-5 then pulled from mid to top. so there you go - one engine, two opinions. isn't that the way it always works?:p

The 421B is a completely different engine from the RX-421P that I was asking about.
The 421B is a buggy engine.
The RX-421P is Novarossi's new 1/8 on-road AAC engine.

no engine is alike... go to ofna.com and go to the engine tuning page... very accurate of how to tune an engine..

going backwards ?

Hi all Have just finished running in my .21 novarossi P5T
I've had poblem,s dialing in this beast
It started after the original plug blew ,when i replaced it the engine would start backwards . I checked the direction of the starter box and that was right ,the pug that i replaced it with was a OS P6 turbo plug which the shop had sent me so i though that this pug maybe to hot and had advaced the timing in some way ?
changed to a rossi RT7 (very cold) and all seemed well as i turned a corner I relased the throtal and excelarated only to find it had gone into reverce ?

any idias

One other thing novarossi dont realy give much away on there web site I can't find the factory settings for the carb and i don,t know if i should have taken out the red pug in the carb
I know that these maybe silly question's but i did'nt get any instution's with the engine so im a bit stuck please help if you know many thanks:cool:

warpig 04-08-2004 03:09 PM

that sounds made up... but, I guess anything is possible.. it would definately be a timing issue if it's truely happening... what pipe do you run?

rod_b 04-08-2004 03:12 PM

Are NSR12 S3 Piston and sleeve sets available anywhere?

Storm 04-08-2004 03:14 PM

Yep I know i sounds crazy thats why i need help I guess this is a one off . as i said the first time it happened I thought it was because i had the starter box the wrong way.
Any how the pipe is a Rb efra 9863:(
do you know about the red plug in the carb:confused:

rcabj 04-08-2004 06:19 PM

need help..

hi...i'm havin problem with my nova S5...

its always cut down at half tank of fuel...

and latest thing that happen that havent happen b4 the
sound of exploding...same like when your motobike sound when your havin a bad plug...

...i've check everything that is possible...fuel line, new plug, fresh fuel, no visual leak anywhere....

and lastly the engine already has 35 hours running time.
and has change the conrod twice...thank u.any suggestion and opinion r welcome...

warpig 04-08-2004 06:51 PM

the plug is a restrictor.. you do not want to remove that... if you do you need to replace it with another size.. the stock one is the best though.. I run a P5 Turbo also.. an 2050 pipe... a novarossi gold 6 turbo plug... not one problem.. the engine is so fast and reliable it's silly... I'd ditch the plug and try another... but, I have never heard of an engine firing up backwards after it was just running correctly

The engine runs the direction you start it.
Check the starter box again.
I've never heard of a plug causing these symptoms.

I'm calling BS on this..

I just simply cannot accept that an engine running counter clockwise will stop and run clockwise..

I think I'd prolly have to change my pants if I actually witnessed it...

you developed a new way to go in reverse.. that's for sure.. you should contact traxxas after you patent it

I'm new to nitro, I see on my novarossi ns3 the idle screw, the high speed screw and the low speed screw, but there is a 4th screw on the left side of the carb right below where the fuel tubing hooks on. Is this the mid range screw? Do you mess with that much?

Nope. Don't mess with the brass screw that controls the position of the main needle jet if you do not have any tuning experience. Leave it as it is and flat against the carb body.

warpig 04-11-2004 09:15 PM

definately don't mess with it if you don't know what it is..

it's the spray bar adjustment.. it moves the venturi position back and forth for different air/fuel flow patterns.. makes minor adjustments to rpm gains... only for very experienced tuners.. you could ruin your engine if you don't tune the whole assembly correctly... easily throw it into a lean setting...
