Yes honey..
Like AMG mentioned, the NS and RR is using cnc-machined piston. But in NSR you will find the microcasted already.
Newer batch of NSR, comes with the piston that you will found in MAX S series. Even lighter than before and only have i pit/oil groove in top.

I just don't know. My ozrocket pinched sleeves were all 4mm top spacing and if I recall, a new Nova P/S set is usually about 3.5mm - could be wrong here.

With the persistant "tinking" I just thought I wasn't getting anywhere and probably doing more harm than good. When the rear bearing failed, that decided it for me. Remember too, that this was a X/12 Rody - rather marginal in the crank strength department. :eek:

The other thing going through my mind was that a new P/S set has the fresh hone cross hatch that gets polished during the break in. The pinched sleeves were still polished from previous running and weren't going to be helping that situation.

My theory with the bath cleaner was to create a roughened surface that would bed in correctly, reduce the diameter of the piston to lessen the pinch point and also eliminate any out of round situation that may have resulted from the pinching procedure. It may be a bit crude, but seems to have worked OK.

I should also mention that I e-mailed ozrocket my concerns re the 4mm pinch point and he said it was correct and would be fine. Plenty of people swear by his method so I may have been over cautious. I'd use ozrocket again, too, and probably still use the bath cleaner. :nod:

No, the piston is not as good as NSR.
The top coat will break on the 3rd gallon if you are using max temp (110-120 C) all the time.

AMGRacer those NS3 are a tight motor from what I've seen at the track.

I'm sure there's some truth in what you say. I haven't changed the rod in the NSR yet and it still feels fine but I guess it's only had about three litres. With the X/12 Rody, I had to feed it rods and bearings regularly - but geez it screamed. :D

One thing I've noticed with these newer engines using the 11.5mm crank is they seem much more robust in the bottom end. I'm just surprised that an extra .5mm and different bearings have made such a difference.

Just thinking about it, I don't recall anyone posting here that they'd broken a NS or V12 crank. There were plenty of broken S3/S1/X-12 Rody cranks though.

Well isn't that strange. I figured they would use the MCP since the RR is one of the latest generation of NS engines.

I heard it takes like 45 mins to run in the first tank of a NSR engine... how long did it take you guys to run in your first tank of your NS or NSR's?

Also may i please ask where is this OSrocket guy from australia or america? does he have a website or an email?

I have got a new NSR 12 engine, and, on the carburator, the middle speed needle, isnt flush whit the carb body, its a few turns in??? Should i leave it there , or adjust it to flush with carb??

Taylor Racing your right, these new gen cranks seem to hold up alot better than the older one. Alass that's how my X12 Rody went a few months ago. Damn crank.Shit happens:lol:
