modifying the sleeve picco red dot evo 3
I just picked up an evo 3 and noticed the sleeve is very standard. on my previous engines i used to dremel small tear drops on the sides of the ports and this would make small noticeable power.
has anyone modded there liner in this way and what sort of changes were experienced??
thanks

Try the IDM version. Modified and I am almost sure the piston and sleeve and hand fitted.

Crank Bore diameter evo2 vs evo 3?
port timing?
Transfer 114° on both engines
A different cooling head doesn't really change engine performance, but does effect car handling.

We have a guy here using a solaroli tuned efra version to this engine and they found the best pipe to be the miekle (mugen efra 2501)..this pipe had the most improvement in power over the rev range.
they also tried the novarossi 2630 and picco 2607. the feedback from the 2607 was it had huge bottom end but ran out of legs rather quickly. it was used on a kyosho rrr using 17/23 55/60 gearing.
I will try the picco 2607 as we have one coming from kamikaze so ill see how it goes.

Believe me 2607 is the 1 you want..I have use nr2501 with the JLR too but is no where near the performance of the picco pipe, my exprience of the Mugen pipe is, its allow you to lean the bottom end without the sign of lean bog but engine runs hotter and top end tune is very touchie, sweet spot is narrow not as wide as 2607 also you need to play with the head shims to make the most out of it.

40° ABDC to 60°ATDC on both engines
slightly under 7mm on both engines
Exhaust 166° on both engines
Transfer 114° on both engines
That's right, but the changes from the EVO 2 to the EVO 3 are mostly in the selection of materials for piston, crank and rod, which makes a considerable difference in power and consitancy
