The Speed is factory "tuned".

I think we all know that this means that OS has done port and crank work to it.
Of course it doesn't mean more power can't be extracted by an engine modder, but it DOES mean that it has more "work" done to it than the "base model" V-Spec.

The GXII being "factory modded" means it has more work done to it at the factory than the GX models. So what is happening is, GO isn't going to release a base model.

Moto

Thatīs a great example Moto :tire: So for a few dollars more (depending where on the globe you are situated) you will be able to buy a factory modded motor (as described above) for a very good price. I reckon thatīs not all bad :D

Thanks Ruune

Chris all the GX & GXII parts are also interchangeable so if down the track they feel that they want a bit more they can put the say GXII crank in or the GXII P/R/S or what the hell put both in ;)

I wouldn't be calling what the factory does as "modding", a few cosmetic cuts on a sleeve are a far cry from what a modder like myself would be doing to a engine....So I have to disagree that its a factory modified mill..put it next to one of my modified engines and you would see for yourself what I am talking about.. The Go sleeve would look prettier and more modified , but my engine would make much more power and RPM...

Now with that being said...that new Go is definitely a nice looking engine...

To me modded in the factory means stock especially when that is the only choice for engine. You can still send it out to be modded for more improvement.

I agree with Maximo.

dont you think your going out on a limb calling them cosmetic cuts. just b/c they didnt go all out doesnt mean shit.

besides times are changed.unless your modding for economy many times all that work is just overkill in a buggy(not talking truggy). just look at ryan lutz he drives stock alpha and he is one of the fastest guys on the track . they probably found a balance that would give there engines extra performance on track without having to spend extra money to see max performance gains on the dyno that you may never be able to utilize on the track.
still i wouldnt call it a mod either. the way i look at it is in order for something to be modded you need to change or modify it from the original version and since there is only one version being released at this time of the gx2 its still stock.

i am no expert just speaking what makes sense to me

non of this takes away from what is a awesome mill

A day will come soon where I will be able to afford a top level racer as well ... what will be said then when you see a full mod engine laying a spanking on all the stockers ? Yes a top pro can win with a stock engine, a top pro can win with a inferior engine as well, just like a top pro can win with a fully modified over the top engine as well.... in other words a Top pro can win with anything.......so its meaningless to show what a top pro is running... they are hired guns and are usually very good at their job........... Myself I am more concerned with what performs well at the club level with the average Joes who make up 99% of the 1/8th market........

When it comes to engine mods, if the modification is visible to naked eye, chances are it is doing next to nothing for engine performance....Cuts on the exterior of a sleeve do next to nothing but look pretty...that I can easily prove if you don't believe me....To a untrained eye my craziest modified engines look bone stock..yet will put out as much as 50% more power then stock and have a 15000 rpm advantage over stock....Yet they look no different then what came out of the factory....

So all I was saying is looking modified and being modified are two very different things.....Send me one of these new gen Go engines and I will show you what I consider modifying an engine......

In other word the term "factory modified"is nothing more then fluff , and almost an insult to someone like me who does real modifications......

[email protected]
is what you get

Ruune 02-05-2011 10:35 AM

http://www.fxrhobby.com/ doesnt even list go. I'll talk to Taiwan again and see what's up. IF they are no longer carrying the product line, or if there isnt a distributor set up, I'll see if I can provide support to you guys. If that is the case, Neal... I'll send you a sample to mod.

motomatt 02-05-2011 10:52 AM

Of course we'll want to see before and after charts.

I'm sure he can get more power out of it, heck.. I already have some plans for modding one of mine (when the rest come). Looking forward to seeing what all the modders end up doing with these true Gen 6 bad boys.

i would have to disagree. pointing out a top racer who runs a stock "race" engine says alot . It is well know that a lot of top pros use full modded mills . if he can keep up with them either he is a much better driver or the extra power is not needed. many top drivers at the worlds had modders on there payroll and lutz had one of the fastest laps of the event.again i still think with the power race engines today produce your better off spending your money on fuel economy gains and slight torque/rpm gains. 50% power gains in a race engine is crazy i find it very hard to believe you would be able to utilize that on a track. If i was a drag racer i would be all over that.

I hope go isnt just adding "fluff". the money it takes to add "fluff" would
certainly be better spent on testing and tuning. i dont think there that stupid
