MM posted some info about the new engine over
on the other GO thread. It seems that the new
cranks are not coated, just bare metal with no
intake timing change, but they are filled.
It also looks like there was no change made
for the con rod material or the piston g-clips
either. So it doesn't look like it comes with
that much extra on the inside, huh?

You might not be far off on that statement.
But only time will tell.

im not trying to start an arguement, but why are you soo negative about everything?:weird:...just wondering:D

rageworks 02-01-2011 10:14 PM

I'm not trying to argue either. I'm just very
disappointed about some of the info I'm reading
about this new engine. I was expecting to here
that a little more innovation went into the engine.

like........what did you want? a water cooled engine?...Fuel injection?....ALOT of engine companies are NO LONGER using the CRANK coating cause the crank materials are better:nod:there really is NOTHING you can come up with that hasnt been already done...so i dont know what you were expecting as far as INNOVATIVE?:weird:....the motors alone will speak for themselves:D....

I will speak to Simon at the earliest opportunity regarding this. I was told that the new crank would be coated.

+1 on that rob,
more top end,
better run times,
easier tuning,
lower c/g,
lighter crank,
a sweet looking block that should be lighter as well by the look of it,
& it's all compatible with the older motors

what more could they do & keep it affordable for us busted ass racers to have a competitive motor that'll match the best of them for a good price,
i say well done to the GO factory & hurry up with production so we can put the doubters to rest till the next generation comes out, as if

Trey it's not yet when the crank was made by good material and suitable heating process as SCM440 or SCM445 alloy steel material. But probably most of Taiwanese engine manufactory used SCM415 alloy steel material also.;)

Ahhh - your a ray of sunshine in all this doom and gloom Magpie :)
What is it with some of the people on here
No one has actually held one of these motors in their hand and had a good look at it yet, but it's already being written off as a non event in some corners. Unbelievable.
Like you Magpie, I reckon for the price these motors will sell at, they will be exceptional value for money. Sure we could have had a few the other things that we are supposedly going to "miss out on" - like a new G clip !! Whoa, I'm sure that would have ramped up the performance markedly.
I bet if we had all these extra's and the price went up a few dollars, then some people would be saying it was too expensive - give me a break.
I'm sure there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than most of us will ever know about, so lets just be happy with a new motor that is a step up from what we have had in the past. I personally can't wait to get hold of one and run it in. Life's simple pleasures ;)

Probably the most "innovative" thing they could have done is sponsor some top drivers to get results. The resulting hype would sell more engines than any physical update to the engine. Just look at Alpha..

I like Go and am sure these new engines will be great. As long as they're not on the list of top-10 or whatever at the big races the hype factor just won't be there. But the performance and price will be, so bleh... And if the performance of these new engines is really better than the previous generation without jacking the price up too much, then well done Go!!
