Go Engine USA 2011 Thread
#2416
Checking around on Amainhobbies for more stellar deals, but now seeing very little in terms of GO Engine COMPLETE engines. Anyone know what's going on?
Little concerned, looks like I might be able to get parts (MIGHT).

Well I had another Go at inserting the carbs properly.
I've got three Go engines, 2x GX5-R, and 1 GXII-5HRO.
The one GX5-R that I have been using, I was able to jam the carb all the way in there. Basicly I smeared silicone shock oil on the O-ring in the case, and on the carb bit that goes in there, and then I slid the carb as far out of the case as possible, and then really jammed it in there. I did that with the GXII also, and it worked on that one too.
But the one GX5-R that is unused and new, I could just not smash it in there, tried like four times.. man.. hard work getting those carbs seated properly in there!

One thing - you do have the pinch bolt halves completely removed from the crankcase while you are trying to insert the carb - yes ?
The pinch bolts work very effectively, and if you have them just loosened off but still in the crankcase you may well have trouble seating the carb. Remove them completely, insert the carb, refit the pinch bolt halves, then seat the carb and tighten.

The GO 3 needle - at the moment nowhere.
The factory is in the process of issuing an upgraded version of the 3 needle with hard anodised throttle slide assembly. These have been delayed slightly in production. We are expecting stocks here in NZ within the next 2 weeks, so I would imagine A-Main will get some 3 needle motors and individual carbs within the same time frame maybe, depending how many they ordered and when.

Hey all, we're still waiting for stock in the US I guess, can't wait to try the new carb for my GXII in buggy and a full 3 needled 2072 combo for the truggy. The 2 needle is running great, but the reviews on the 3 needle have me excited to try it out. The GX5R from a year ago is still running strong in my truggy but the GXII has just a bit more runtime and I want to make 10minute stops safely for our 20minute mains.
I've been running buggy lately to learn it before the upcoming series and the last couple weeks I won the open class and was very close to putting 2nd place 2 laps down on a track with laps between 43 and 46 seconds for the open class. I think I'm getting bumped to the expert class, and this past week I got 4th place in expert after winning the open class main and starting 10th on the grid for the pro class. In 40minutes of mains there was never a hesitation from the Go. I match or beat just about everything down the straight in our open and pro classes. Can't say enough about this thing, it's been incredibly reliable and predictable since I got it in November. Pre-heating will keep you from changing things and messing up the tune when it's still cold.

Order the arrow carb. The go 3 needle is the exact same part.
I saw the post above about the revised 3 needle- assuming the arrow carb will be revised as well, since they come from the same shop.

+1 on the pre heating. The GO's have always taken a couple of minutes to come on song from cold, and guys have a habit of mis-tuning them before a race because of this. The heater removes this "performance lag" if you like, and does make fine tuning pre race a whole lot easier.
Nice driving too

Hold off on the 3 needle either from GO or Arrow, as all the carbs out there at present have the old slide in them.
The new slide assemblies come on line in around a week, so the carbs will start leaving the factory with the modified slides very soon. The older carbs have a dull chrome coated throttle slide, the new slide will be hard anodised (the same as the OS slide system I am told).
We had a few problems with the coating quality on the old slides, so hence the upgraded hard anodised units.
Worth the wait, as the 3 needle is a nice upgrade on the GXII or any of the previous GX Series motors. Better performance and more accurate tuning.

Installed a 3 needle the O.S. 12180 21J Carburetor today and ran 1/2 gallon on my GXII...Not knocking the 2 needle carb in anyway but the 21J carb makes the motor that much more better. I found the transition from low to high much more smoother. Can't wait to try go's 3 needle carb.
