gotcha

Need your help.
I'm new to the nitro side of things. I have a new Mugen with an arrow gtr engine it has only about an hour of breaking in. Had a few small issues with the tuning settings. So today I decided to set it all back to the setting you guys have suggested, then I had a problem with it idling really high & the throttle was sticking?? I pulled it apart this evening & notice once I disconnected the throttle linkage I noticed that the throttle is really sticky as you move it in & out?? What would be the issue? I did screw the idle screw all the way in when I reset the setting, but I did back it off again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

you need to make sure u installed the idle screw correctly. there's a notch in the carb slide where the idle screw sits in. if the slide isnt lined up with the screw it will dig into the slide and that's a huge problem!

What are the temps like on the arrow gtr v3?

Oh that doesn't sound good. I got the kit off a mate that has raced arrow engined Mugens for the last couple of years, ( i guess it would have been installed correctly, but you never know) he is away on holidays at the moment so i can't contact him..
it did run ok for the 1st couple of tanks, seems weird that it has just started to happen now??
Is it something i can just pull apart this afternoon & put back correctly & it will be fixed or is it stuffed now?
This thing is giving ne the sh#ts!! lol

well you would know immediately if it wasnt installed correctly because the slide wouldnt move at all. so if the carb slides back and forth freely and the idle screw seems to be properly set then I doubt thats the issue.

....one thing that some guys miss is the actual carb boot. I had one that got very hard. the rubber wasn't soft like when I first got it. maybe from just sitting for a long time or something, but it made the carb hard to slide back in, even with a rubber band around it. if it feels harder than usual I would get a new one.

Always open the carb slide when adjusting the idle stop screw. Otherwise it can gouge the slide and cause it to not move freely and bind. This is true with all engines.

i have a v3 that has about 4 litres on it. i pulled it apart for inspection and noticed the coating on the carb barrel (the bit that slides inside the carb body) had come off in parts. anyone else have this happen? the sliding action on the carb is not the smoothest but i assume it is because of the coating falling off.

Some of the carbs are defective and you can not turn the lsn 1 turn in or it binds. Here in the USA, we check each engine before shipping and set the needles to our recommended settings. If the carb is bad, we replace it then.

Also, make sure you always open the slide before adjusting the idles or lsn. And turn the mid range out 2 turns before turning in the lsn.

Yes we will stock them but this is the first I have heard of them. But they did mention they were going to make a pipe over 1 year ago. I guess it is ready now.
