Got one yesterday.
Need to pre heat the engine before break in with a hair dryer. Be patience when during this period. Pinch is very hard. After the breaking, the engine rocks. So much power and hold tune. I am getting another one. Simply awesome. Thumbs up ! |

rageworks, close to what stallen mentioned.
fantastic engine. very consistent and good quality. the engine seems very similar to os double world champion engine. the vspec but not a speed. it would even better to have epoxy filled and balance crank. read the review here and decided to have a go and I wasn't dissappointed at all. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Arrow fixed the biggest problem with the standard VSpec and got rid of the oiling hole on the crank pin and moved it to the rod instead (like on the Speed version). Helps with crank pin wear (minus DLC). Assuming the crankcase exhaust port is identical, the one thing I think Arrow could do is start using a Speed VZB version sleeve. There's no extra work (meaning, no extra production cost... just initial setup costs)... it's simply altering the exhaust port shape. The improved exhaust cutout on the Speed sleeve helps a lot with mileage too. |

The Speed version of the short-stroke crank is the most expensive part of a Speed... but also where the biggest power gain comes from. Most of the power comes from enlarged crank opening and the ramping on the back.

Agree with Rsickles and Stallen50.
It is an improvised of the V-spec engine ( Part of Speed and V-spec ) I am actually a fan of the V-spec and doesn't like the X-spec so much. The Speed version of the short-stroke crank is the most expensive part of a Speed... but also where the biggest power gain comes from. Most of the power comes from enlarged crank opening and the ramping on the back. The improved exhaust cutout on the Speed sleeve helps a lot with mileage too. The V-spec is the fiercest engine for almost 1/2 decade until OS stopped production and comes the Novarossi Plus 4 which dubbed as the OS killer. But lack the the low end response of the V-spec. Nevertheless, I am happy with the Arrow now. It's like the good old days. My 2cents. |
